Celebrate a Book Field Trip Makeup Plans:
Students who qualified for the Celebrate a Book Field Trip will be going to Cowley Cinema to watch Kung Fu Panda on Tuesday, May 21st. Students plan to be back to CES by 2:30pm. Due to the nature of this trip, we will not be able to accomodate parent guests. Please call the school if you have any questions!
Weather and Activities:
With this year's wild weather, we are keeping a close eye on the sky! We are going to do our best to preserve the field trips and activities that we have planned, but student and staff safety will be our number one priority.
If there is a need for cancellation or modification of any activity or trip, we will use all communication platforms and tools to get that information out to parents as necessary. Unfortunately, due to the nature of Kansas weather patterns, some calls will need to be made the day of or even last minute.
Please help your child prepare for a change in weather and for all weather types! Sunscreen, jackets, old clothes, etc... are best in case of hot days, rainy days, and muddy conditions.
Thank you for your understanding!

Learning and Growing at CES!
Students and staff have been working hard all year to reach our goals! This year our staff set a goal for ALL students to show growth in the areas of reading and math. Through purposeful instruction and targeted interventions- we are making progress!
Below, you will see three different charts for our three different district screeners. Early Literacy is given to our Kindergarten and 1st grade students, Reading for our 2nd-6th grade students and Math for 1st-6th grade students.
The charts are divided into five different categories:
Dark Green- Above Benchmark
Green- At Benchmark
Blue- Approaching Benchmark

We continue to reflect on our data and make adjustments to instruction and practices- always working to better our students! On Thursday, we celebrated our accomplishments with popsicles for the kids and Sonic drinks for the staff!

Central Elementary Personal Cell Phone/Device Policy Reminder:
Families, this is a reminder of our personal cell phone/device policies and expectations at Central Elementary School. As of late, we have had to remind students that these devices are not to be used in our building. If students have a cell phone or smart watch, they are to remain off and in their bags and/or lockers. Please keep in mind that we do not have or allow locks on our lockers.
If a message or a change of afternoon transportation is needed to be made, please call our office and we will deliver a transportation change to your child. All changes of end of day transportation need to be made through the office with our secretary to properly communicate needs to the transportation department and classroom teachers.
If your child has their cellphone or smart watch out, it will be sent to the office. Thank you for talking with your students and reminding them of the expectations for these devices at Central Elementary School.
We Are a Leader In Me School!
Reminder of Our Wellness Policies:
Families, it is that time of year where there are many forms of sickness being shared. This weekend our custodial staff will be conducting additional deep clean and disinfecting measures in classrooms and common spaces as well as encouraging thorough handwashing.
Please see the guidelines below regarding school attendance and illness. Thank you!
