MRHS Honor & High Honor Roll - Third Quarter
Monomoy Regional High School has released the names of the students who achieved High Honor Roll and Honor Roll status for the third quarter of the 2023-2024 school year: https://www.monomoy.edu/post-details/~board/latest-news/post/monomoy-regional-high-school-announces-third-quarter-honor-roll
Monomoy Regional High School moves up list in U.S. News top 100
In the most recent U.S. News and World Report annual ranking of the best public high schools in each state, Monomoy Regional High School has risen to number 76 of the 351 Massachusetts schools ranked, improving from number 83 in the 2023 analysis, and was one of only five Cape Cod high schools in the top 100.
Schools were ranked based on six key indicators: college readiness (20%), state assessment proficiency (20%), state assessment performance (20%), underserved student performance (10%), college curriculum breadth (10%), and graduation rate (10%).
“This acknowledgment is a reflection of our dedicated educators delivering consistent, high-quality instruction each day,” said Monomoy Regional High School Principal Jennifer Police, “as well as our focus on providing equitable access for all students.”
“I am incredibly proud of the innovation and commitment of our teachers, staff, and administrators, who work tirelessly to ensure that each and every one of our students has opportunities to grow and learn,” said Monomoy Superintendent Dr. Scott Carpenter. “We are also lucky to have supportive families and communities that recognize the importance of public education. I am pleased, although not surprised, that this is being recognized on a national level.”
The U.S. News and World Report ranking of Massachusetts high schools can be found at https://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/massachusetts/rankings.

Celebrating Hope Week
Mindful Monday
Thank you to all who stopped by the Hope Squad's Mindful Monday table at lunch on Monday. They got 52 people to sign up for mindfulness apps on their phones and gave away countless stickers and self-care prizes.
Multicultural Fair
Congrats to MRHS Ice Skaters
The Nauset Skating Team is an individual Figure Skating team with Monomoy and Nauset students who compete against other high school teams on the East Coast. This year, we have competed in New Hampshire, Orleans, MA (twice), Rhode Island, Maine, and Vermont. At the Easterns event, we competed in Vermont for US Figure Skating this past weekend and placed 1st with 190 points out of 11 teams on the East Coast. At this competition, there was also a contest for the best team spirit, such as cheering each skater on whether they are on your team or a different team you are competing against, and we also won 1st place in this contest. At a high school competition, we compete in events such as a solo free skate, a solo character showcase (showcasing a character from a show or movie), a duet showcase, a trio showcase, solo dance (an opportunity to demonstrate artistry, expression, and musicality while skating dance skills), and team maneuvers (A team event where each skater at that level go out on the ice together and have specific skills that they showcase and get judged on).
In March, Mikenzie Eldredge tested and passed her Pre-Gold Moves In the Field test with US Figure Skating, leaving her one more test until she passes all of the tests for US Figure Skating. That same day Dori Walsh tested and passed her Silver Moves In the Field test leaving her two more tests until she passed all of the tests for US Figure Skating.
MRHS students on the team include: Victoria Letendre (Senior), Mikenzie Eldredge (Junior), Dorothy [Dori] Walsh (Junior), Addisyn Insana (Freshman), Corinne Pina (Freshman)
Biology Rat Dissection
Students in Ms. Flint's biology classes spent their last unit figuring out how the body maintains homeostasis. As part of this phenomenon-based unit, students were able to analyze data and apply their background knowledge to determine why a marathon runner may have fallen into a coma after her race. In order to develop a better understanding of basic anatomy, students took part in a rat dissection to further investigate the structures that allow animals to maintain homeostasis.

AP Exams Information
WELCOME TO AP EXAM SEASON!
Here are a few important tips, reminders, and expectations for your exam (s)
Every student who is registered to test is EXPECTED to TEST. Our school is charged $40 per exam if a student decides to “no show” on exam day. Taking the culminating exam is the expectation when a student registers for an AP course.
Exams differ in length but generally will be around three hours (exception for students who have been pre-approved for accommodations)
It is important to eat before your exam and it is logical to “Brown Bag” it on exam day .
AM Exams begin at 8:45. Students report to the exam room for check-in at 8:30.
PM Exams will begin at 12:00pm. Students report to the exam room for check-in at 11:45. Students can eat lunch from 11:45-12 as we check them in. This is why bringing lunch really helps.
Students who are late to the testing room will not be permitted to take their exam. Students must stay in the testing room until the end of the timed exam.
Be sure NOT to schedule any “Jawsomes” on your exam days. Teachers will be asked not to schedule you into “Jawsome”.
There should not be a conflict with athletic events. In the event that you have a match/game on a PM exam day, arrange transportation on your own to the match/game and email kguilmette@monomoy.edu and communicate this with your coach.
Students ARE EXPECTED to attend the full day of school on exam day
Please review the link below for some tips from College Board
