Message From Superintendent Mueller
Good Afternoon, CUSD.
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Coronado Schools Foundation ‘Day of Giving’ yesterday. The portal is still open if you haven’t had an opportunity to donate. The STEM and VAPA programs in all four of our schools are funded through CSF, and in these tight budget times we can’t imagine what our schools would look like without CSF. Please donate HERE!!
We continue to seek community input on our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), which as a California public school district we are required to create and update annually. The LCAP is a three-year plan outlining goals and budget priorities and calls for updates which include input from the community. Please provide your own thoughts and rate the ideas of others through our interactive survey: Please log into the ThoughtExchange survey here. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us!
Musical theater fans get ready! The CMS Advanced Performing Arts class is rehearsing for their spring production of “Newsies: The Musical.” The students have been working hard and the show looks amazing. Read all about it! The show will run two nights (Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 at 6pm) Get your tickets HERE.
Wishing everyone a Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend!

Caught Being Awesome!
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Abbie Hartge is an example of what it means to be a learner. She is enthusiastic, always reflecting on how to make things better, and simultaneously sure about what she is doing. She designs her classroom so that students are both collaborative and independent learners. Her enthusiasm is contagious and spreads to her students and to the adults that get to be apart of her work.
- Rebecca Rabe: My son had a task for KCMS which was after school hours last week. His classmates couldn't attend for this teamwork and he was alone to go filming an event in CHS for the first time and he asked me to be with him. We met Mrs. Rabe and her famous dog Misu there and she said she has come to help. Her help proved to be needed when my son started filming and realized the memory of the camera was full. Mrs. Rabe managed this difficulty as well as others and was so kind to spend her time so the task would be successful. We are very grateful to her.
- Kilee Lamm & Gizelle O'Loughlin: Both of our 5th grade teachers are new to Silver Strand and CUSD this year, and they are incredible educators and an amazing grade-level team. Though everything has been new to them this year, they have dived into our school community with confidence and expertise, building relationships and strong connections with students and colleagues. We are so grateful to have two talented, caring, and impactful new Voyager crewmates!
- Meteline Miranda is caught being awesome every single day! She has a ready smile and word of encouragement for students and staff from the time she steps on campus until the time she leaves. If she sees a need, Meteline is quick to jump in and offer her assistance. Thank you for sharing your awesomeness with our students and staff, Meteline. You're an asset to our district!
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
Mobile Device Protection Plan for Families With CUSD Chromebooks
If your student has a CUSD issued Chromebook, you are encouraged to review and consider purchasing the OPTIONAL Mobile Device Protection Plan (MDPP) for the 2023-2024 school year. The annual plan is designed to cover accidental damage of CUSD Chromebooks including screen breakage. In addition, the plan will protect against spills, fire, flood, natural disasters, and theft/loss. Mobile hotspots, power cords, cables, and other accessories are not covered. Intentional damage, improper device storage, and misuse are not covered.
The cost of the plan is $20 per device per year. The plan must be purchased annually at the beginning of each school year or at the time of registration to be valid. To maintain coverage, a new plan must also be purchased if a student is provided with a replacement device due to damage/loss of their previous device. This money will be used to create a dedicated pool of funding to replace or repair covered technology. All money collected through the program will go into a special account that can only be used to replace or repair technology that is covered in the plan. We highly recommend this low-cost protection plan. To purchase a Mobile Device Protection Plan for your student, please use the instructions at the following link: Mobile Device Protection Plan Purchase Instructions.
