IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!!
If you get to school before 8:20 a.m and want to wait in the car with your child until the doors open at 8:20, please park in a parking space in the parking lot to wait. When cars wait in the dropoff line, it creates a traffic problem for those trying to get in and out of the parking lot. Thank you!
Signing out students
This year we are using a new method to sign students in and out when they arrive late or leave school early. We have a QR code on the table in front of the front office. When you are bringing your student in or picking up outside of normal times, please remember to bring your phone so you can check them in/out. Make sure to let anyone else picking up your student know as well. They will also need a photo ID to show.
Inclement weather
What you need to know when Douglas County School District issues a 90-minute delay for schools:
- School starts at 10:10 a.m.
- Students may come into the building at 9:50 a.m. Please DO NOT drop off your students off before 9:50 a.m.
- If you arrive before 9:50 a.m., please stay with your student(s) until the doors open at 9:50 a.m.
- If your student(s) walk to school, please make sure they aren't leaving home too early.
- BASE opens at 8:00 a.m.
- Morning preschool is cancelled.
- All before school activities will be cancelled.
- Breakfast is not served.
- Buses will pick students up 90 minutes later than normal.
- If you choose to keep your student home, it will be an excused absence. Please let us know if this is what you will do, either on the attendance line or form.
- Unless otherwise notified, all afternoon activities will proceed as normal.
Whenever we have inclement weather, please watch all local news channels, the DCSD website (dcsdk12.org), and the DCSD Facebook page for information. You should also get an email and text from the district, but it may go to your junk/spam folder so be sure to check there, too.
If you would like more information on weather delays and closures, click here. All weather related decisions are made by 5 a.m.
Wish Week is coming!
CMAS testing
CMAS testing will be here before we know it. Attendance is always important, but please be particularly mindful when scheduling appointments and vacations for our 3rd-6th graders during the testing window, which is April 7-25, 2025. More details will be coming in future editions of Panther Press.

Job Postings
We have postings for an Education Assistant (EAIV) in our Severe Special Needs (SSN) program! This rewarding job involves being part of a wonderful team dedicated to helping students with disabilities, and you would be working on a similar schedule as your kids.
We are also looking for EA substitutes. They are a vital part of our team, helping the school run smoothly when staff members need to be in meetings or out of the building. This position offers a lot of flexibility; we may need help with lunch and recess duties, classroom coverage, helping a teacher, or any variety of duties. We have both planned and spontaneous needs. If you love working with kids but need a more flexible schedule, this could be a great job for you!
You can find the postings on the district website here: https://www.dcsdk12.org/careers or reach out to Kirsten Sola with any questions!
