Weekly round up

Low Ash weekly round up - week ending 5.7.24
We've had another great week at Low Ash with school visits to Harewood House, two Year 6 shows, an outstanding performance from our U11s netball team (pictured above) and also the 'meet your new teacher' day. We hope you have all seen the information sent home about your child's new class teacher - this will hopefully help you and your child to learn a little more about them.
Attendance
This week's school attendance is: 94.2%.
Low Ash school attendance for the year so far: 95.0%.
The classes of the week are 5B with 99.3% and Reception Base 2 with 97.4%.
We aim for 96% attendance but, currently, are falling short of this every week. We continue to have numerous requests for holidays from school. A reminder that we are unable to authorise any leave of absence for pupils unless there are exceptional circumstances.
School Uniform
Whilst we appreciate that at this time of the school year, pupils may be out growing their uniform, we expect all pupils to be wearing the correct uniform from September. We will provide changes of clothes for those who repeatedly come in the incorrect uniform. If you are uncomfortable with this (or think your child will be), then please ensure your child is dressed as they should be for school.
A reminder that items with logos should not be worn. Even small logos can cause issues amongst children as it introduces an element of competition. School uniform ensures everyone is equal.
Please do not spend a lot of money on school clothes. We simply ask that pupils are in the correct school uniform. We thank you for your support in this.
Transition
We hope the children enjoyed their transition morning on Wednesday and feel a little less nervous about the new school year after meeting their new teacher. There was a lovely atmosphere in school on Wednesday and there seemed to be lots of excited children! You will have a further opportunity to meet your child's new class teacher in the first school week back in September when Years 1 - 6 will hold their curriculum sessions.
Save the date - curriculum sessions:
Year 1 and 2 - Tuesday 3rd September
Year 5 and 6 - Wednesday 4th September
Years 3 and 4 - Thursday 5th September
All of these sessions will take place straight after school and your children can attend with you. You will have the chance to find out about the year's curriculum and ask any questions you might have. We hope you can join us.
Summer fun - reading challenge
The Bradford libraries are running a summer reading challenge to encourage pupils to continue to read over the summer break. This year's theme is 'Marvellous Makers'.
