Spirit Assembly!!
Good Morning Stanwood Middle School Families!
Empowering our Spartans to Learn
This week our Spartan Staff spent time on Wednesday morning looking at the universal supports we can provide our Spartans to help create the conditions where students are successful and empowered to learn.
We spent a good portion of our time establishing expectations for areas around the school--classrooms, the library, hallways, outside, the lunchroom, the bus lane, bathrooms, and the cafeteria. While students are aware of our expectations in each area from our Spartan Pride walks in September, reminding and putting the expectations to the forefront at each area will help all of students find success throughout the school and their day.
Monster Mash Bash
Monday after school is our first dance/activity afternoon of the year. We will not sell tickets at the door, so all students must purchase their ticket before school or during lunch on Monday. Students must have a signed permission slip to buy a ticket. The event ends at 4:00 p.m., so please make sure you have arrangements to pick up your Spartan.
Costume Day October 31
We can't wait to see the costumes on Monday morning! This day is always a huge fun day for students and staff as we see the creativity and fun of costumes.
Students dressing up should remember the following don'ts for costume day:
No masks
Nothing that obscures the face (make-up/paint that makes a face unrecognizable)
No weapons
No blowup costumes

Staff Meeting
Meet the Spartan Staff
Jake Plagerman joins our Spartan Family this fall in the Social Studies department. Last year he did his student teaching in Post Falls, Idaho. He's excited to be back on the west side of the state and is loving Stanwood life.
He's very enthusiastic about being at Stanwood Middle School and teaching his Spartans in 7th and 8th grade. While he's busy, he loves the size of our school and getting to know all of the names and faces of students and staff.
Outside of school Mr. Plagerman identifies as a hobby king--he loves to try new things out all of the time; he's also a huge sports enthusiast--even playing hockey!
Welcome Mr. Plagerman--we are so glad you are a Spartan!
Spartan Pride Awards
This week we announced our first Spartan Pride Awards during lunch. Names and pictures are below. We will continue to announce these weekly during lunch and send the slips home to families for prominent refrigerator display.
