Hello Sandhill Families,
Happy Pi Day! Today, we celebrate Pi (π) Day, which falls on March 14th (3/14) because the first three digits of Pi are 3.14. Pi represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter, and it’s an important concept in 5th grade mathematics! Some celebrate by solving math problems, while others enjoy a slice of actual pie—both are great ways to honor the day!
We also had a bright and joyful Goodness Day today! As part of Kindness Week, students and staff wore yellow and sunglasses to celebrate kindness and spread positivity. Throughout the day, our school focused on acts of kindness—big and small—to make our school and community a brighter place.
Mark your calendars! We have set the date for our Working for Kids (WFK) Crane Games and School Picnic—Friday, May 30! This is always a fun-filled event for our students and families, and we can't wait to share more details as we get closer.

You may or may not have noticed, but I’ve been away for a few days. I had a medical procedure the Thursday of Family Conferences, and I’ve been home recovering. Today was my first day back at Sandhill, and it was so great to see all the faces I missed!

Harlem Globetrotters Contest
Hello families! Sandhill students will be entering a contest to try to win a visit from the Harlem GlobeTrotters! Our video will include all of our amazing basketball skills from our basketball unit in PE! Although we will be submitting a video as a whole school, your child is also welcome to submit their own personal artwork, pictures and videos. Follow the QR code in the flyer for more resources and information!
Forward Madison Mascot Contest
Hello Sandhill 4th and 5th Grade Families,
Forward Madison FC, the local professional soccer team here in Madison is sending a representative to Sandhill on Monday, March 17th! They are in the process of bringing a flamingo mascot to their team, and have invited our 4th and 5th grade students to be a part of the creative process. During Encore time on Monday students will have the opportunity to participate in a contest for the design of the mascot! We are excited to see our students draw their very own Flamingo Mascot!
Forward Madison will provide a ticket to every child who participates, and one winner will be selected to have their drawing come to life as the Forward Madison FC mascot! The winner and their family will be invited out a Forward Madison FC game and will be recognized at the match.
Watch for an email from me - Mr. Johnson, through smore after March 20th that will contain a link to the student ticket.

We are highlighting two events in March: Women’s History Month, World Day of Muslim Culture, Peace, Dialogue and Film, and International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
