Message from Mr. Kingery
Dear Art Rutkin Families,
This week’s Ram Report starts with a great deal of appreciation for what’s been going on recently at Art Rutkin Elementary. Thank you to Leah Baldwin, Cindy Koonz and Jill Roberts, along with their families, who worked together on setting up our fence cup “You Matter” message project. Mrs. Baldwin, who is also our Art Literacy Coordinator, led this project starting back in the spring when the idea for it started. Thank you also to all the parent volunteers who helped on Oct. 23rd as students finished the project located on the fence by our soccer field. The funding for this project came from the Art In The Burbs grant last year. The 2024 Art In The Burbs event is at Tigard HS on Nov. 9th & 10th. We look forward to seeing what may be possible with this year’s funds! Please consider supporting Art In The Burbs next weekend.
We are nearing the end of the first quarter on November 7th. Teachers will be working on the first quarter academic feedback forms that will be shared with parents and guardians through ParentSquare by November 15th. This information should reflect what was discussed during the Family Partnership Conferences during the week of Oct. 21st-25th. Please contact your child’s teacher for any follow up questions or information.
Here are a few things to keep in mind as we continue a strong home-to-school connection to best support your child’s social, emotional and academic growth.
After Family Partnership Conferences:
Follow up on any plan of action agreed upon by you, your child’s teacher and your child.
Stay in touch with the teacher. You may contact them via ParentSquare, email or phone with any questions that you have this year.
Review and discuss what was said during the conference with your child more than once.
Be sure to celebrate any successes and positive comments your child’s teacher shared. Use this as a chance to praise your child for their successes.
If you did not schedule and attended a family partnership conference, please do so soon. Our goal is that we meet with every child’s parents or guardians.
You will receive the regular report card in February, April and June. Please note that there is a teacher work day on November 8th, and we will be observing Veterans’ Day on November 11th. Also, there will be no school on November 27th-29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will all look forward to enjoying some time with friends and family at the end of this month.

Art Rutkin Elementary You Matter Project 2024
October's Art Lit project was Tigard Public Art, specifically the Fence Cup Project. Thank you to Leah Baldwin and the Art Lit volunteers. The students had a great time helping install the fence cups. This project has added a special touch to our school! To see a time-lapse video of the project click here or click on the picture.
While usually funded by the PSO, this project was funded by an annual grant from the Art in the Burbs event. It’s a great event to do some shopping while giving back. Over 90 artists donate 20% of their profits to provide grants to each school in the district. You can learn more at artintheburbs.org.
Thank you PSO and Art Rutkin Families
A big thank you to our PSO and Art Rutkin Families for providing us with snacks, sparkling water and protein drinks. Special thank you to Sultan The Flaming Tandoor for providing lunch during the Family Partnership Days! We appreciate you! đź’śđź’śđź’ś
Socktober Collection Final Totals
Way to go Rams! We more than doubled our goal of 1,000 pairs of socks by collecting 2,362 pairs in one month! The class that brought in the most socks was 3rd grade with 885 pairs! They will be enjoying a popcorn party and extra recess. However, everyone worked so hard that we've decided that all grades will be earning a popcorn party! Great job RAMS!
The Caring Closet will be so grateful for your generous donations! Thank you so much! đź’śđź’śđź’ś
