A Message From the Principal
Dear Big T Families,
Happy New Year! We hope your winter break was filled with rest, joy, and quality time with loved ones. As we begin this new semester, we’re excited to continue working together to help every student Think Big, Act Big, and Do Big!
We’re incredibly proud of the tremendous growth our students achieved in literacy and math during the first semester. These accomplishments reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the support of our families. Thank you for being such an essential part of our students’ success!
This week, as we settle back into our routines, we are focusing on:
Character Habits: Respect, Responsibility, and Reflect & Revise. These habits guide how we learn, grow, and collaborate as a school community.
Classroom Agreements: Revisiting and reaffirming the agreements we made to create safe, inclusive, and engaging learning spaces.
Schoolwide Expectations: Re-engaging in the routines and practices that help keep everyone safe, supported, and ready to learn.
As we move forward, we remain committed to ensuring every student feels encouraged, challenged, and celebrated. Together, let’s make this semester one filled with big thinking, bold actions, and meaningful achievements! Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
With the cold weather and snow season upon us, please ensure that your child has warm clothing and boots as we do go outside every day unless the “feels like” temperature is below 15 degrees. If you need assistance with warm clothing or boots, please let us know.
Here’s to an exciting and successful second half of the school year!
Warm regards,
Sarah Walgast
Principal

Messages From The Office
* When your student is absent it is a good idea to reach out to their teacher to get work to do at home. However, still call the attendance line or email the office to excuse the absence. Teachers are busy and may not have time to let the office know that the absence was excused through them.
You can now excuse the absence through the parent portal if that is more convenient for you.
* If your student is absent due to an appointment, please get a medical note from the clinic and send it to the front office. Medical appointments with a note are the only absences the state of Colorado considers as excused for their count purposes.
* Remember, if you need to change how your student normally goes home please call or email the office before 2:30 PM. Stacey.faykosh@tsd.org or 970-613-5600
* Please remember that toys are to remain at home. They can be a distraction in the classroom and there are tears if the toy disappears.
**Small lost and found items are usually kept at the office.
