ADMINISTRATION
Jaguar Families,
I hope you are enjoying this first full fall weekend before bracing for another week with triple digit heat. There's a LOT going on this time of year. This coming week is a fun Homecoming week with 5 spirit days, ending with a parade through campus on Friday.
Our Wellness Team is always focused on important mental health issues. During September, which is Suicide Awareness Month, the students experienced an advocacy lesson on Suicide Prevention. Some of their feedback comments are below along with Suicide Prevention Resources. October is Depression Awareness Month. To support and educate our students, we have a "One Degree of Separation" assembly on Wednesday, October 9, along with a workshop for parents and guardians the same evening at 6:00 PM. All details are below.
Term one wraps up with two minimum days on October10 and 11 for Final Exams. Monday, October 14 is the first day of term 2 and is a Reverse Minimum Day for Staff Professional Development. And there is another Reverse Minimum Day on Wednesday, October 16 for 8th grade PSAT. 8th Grade Students attend school all day, taking the PSAT in the morning and attending classes in the afternoon. 7th grade students have a reverse minimum day and don't come to school in the morning. 7th grade students just attend afternoon classes.
As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support as we make these two formative years the best they can be for students.
GO JAGS!!! 💜
Jenny Keyport
TJMS Principal

ONE DEGREE OF SEPERATION ASSEMBLY
Save the Date, 10/9! Comedian Brad Bonar, along with other local Sacramento comedians, will come together to talk to students and families about depression.
- "Depression has one degree of separation: if you don't suffer, then someone you know does. We aim to bring dialogue, awareness, and acceptance for those suffering from depression through laughter and vulnerability. We laugh at the dark stuff because laughter releases the pain. We talk about depression because no one should feel shame. With an army of comedians, we hope to kill the stigma of depression and share stories of hope, happiness, and triumph." (https://www.1degreeofseparation.life/)
- Students will attend the assembly on Wednesday 10/9 with their Advocacy class. We will be on a Rally/Assembly schedule for the day.
- Families are invited to attend their own assembly Wednesday 10/9 at 6PM in the TJMS GYM.
PBIS FOCUS:
We will continue to teach and reinforce our 4 core values in all locations on campus. We will also be discussing showing kindness at school. Teachers will reward students who are meeting our core values by handing out Jag Swag. Families can continue the conversation at home by asking their child(ren) what our core values are at school and how they relate to your values as a family.
JAG SWAG PULL:
This week we will have a Jag Swag Pull on Friday morning during TJTV. Students who are pulled will get to choose a prize. Prizes include a popcorn party, Jaguar pride merch, a VIP event ticket, a Front of the Line Pass, or a snack bag. Staff, if your swag gets pulled you win a prize too.
