Monthly Character Trait Lessons
Each month the Counselors have the opportunity to teach a lesson in all the grades on the Mapleton Elementary Character Trait of the month! For October the Character Trait we focused on was Growth Mindset. Students learned the power of "yet" and the importance of not giving up when things get challenging. The 2nd and 4th grade classes were given their own "Yet" craft that they could color and return to Mrs. Walker for a prize! Students also get to earn a Growth Mindset sticker at the end of this month. For November the Character Trait we will be focusing on is Gratitude!

Little Spot Curriculum
Our K-1st graders were introduced to the "Little Spot" curriculum this month! The "Spots" teach us about the various emotions we feel, how to identify those emotions, and what to do when we feel big or uncomfortable emotions. These characters are a tool we use in school to help students become the best they can be in the classroom and at home. For more information on the Little Spot curriculum, you can visit the author's website at: www.dianealber.com
