The swim team's season is over! That means we're entering the dog days of summer when many of our families go on vacation while others are hitting Staples for school supplies.

It's going to be a quieter around the pool deck -- time for a party!

Our annual Teen Night is coming up Aug. 5, 7-10 p.m. (note new starting time).

Bring your friends for music, sweet treats, and pool fun! Middle- and high school students welcome!

There's a $5 charge for pool members and nonmembers to attend!

Some of our teens and tweens are pictured above and below during this weekend's Division O competition among the summer's best of the best from six teams.

Team rep Alyssa Parness reports our swimmers improved their times meet after meet, which means they were swimming faster and faster as the summer progressed.

Sunita Kasper, 11, and Eduardo Martinez, 14, were among our standouts at the meet.

Sunita placed third in the 11-12 50M girls butterfly and the 11-12 50M backstroke events.

Similarly, Eduardo came in third in the 13-14 boys 50M butterfly, putting him in the division's top swimmers too.

Congratulations to all our swimmers for a job well done this summer!

We'll be holding our last Ladies Night of the season on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 7-10 p.m.

Bring a friend, an appetizer, salad, or dessert, and your enthusiasm for an evening floating under the stars! BYOB too. Soft drinks will be provided.

The fee is $5 for pool members. $7 for non-pool members. (Non-member attendees need to be guests of a pool member who is present at the event.)

Looks like we're going to have a Water Dance Fitness class on our planned rain date, Aug. 13th, 7:30 p.m.

Class was rained out July 23rd because of our monsoon-like weather.

Our other remaining class dates:

A regular crowd of about 30 pool members has been enjoying the rigorous workouts by instructor and pool member Miriam Lasar (see photos of her in action above).

The classes are being offered at no charge to KMSC members and for $5 each to nonmembers.

We'll reimburse those payments to any nonmember who subsequently joins the pool by the end of the summer!

We also have a new special deal on tap now for all our trial members who convert to full membership now -- full access to the pool until we close for the season if you pay off the first half of your share now. It's come to my attention that some of our members have been storing some inflatable rafts/toys in our storage closets and the staff break room (or what SHOULD be the staff break room).

Unfortunately we just don't have room for these items; the bulky things impede access to the space (and honestly there's enough clutter as it is). We also cannot guarantee that items won't be used by others, or damaged or lost.

So if you have any personal item in our storage closet, please claim it over the next week or so. Items left unclaimed may be tossed or donated. I know that it can be a hassle hauling the things you like to use at the pool, but we just can't keep it in the Clubhouse for you.

Also, It's time for another purge of our Lost & Found. Please check the Lost & Found box outside the pool office and take home what's yours. Anything left may be donated or disposed of depending on the condition.

Cost: $3 slice, $5 for two slices, $20 for an entire pie, cash or credit (a transaction fee will apply for the latter). Soft drinks can be purchased from the Snack Bar. We still need members to help with picking up the pizzas at Ben Yehuda's and with selling them poolside. Please use this Sign-up Genius to volunteer.

Sunday, July 29 - Raft Night - 5:00 p.m. to closing.

Monday, July 30 - Water Dance Aerobics - 7:30-8:30 p.m. No charge for members, $5 for nonmembers.
