From the Principal's Desk
Hello Rose Pioneer Families,
This Monday, November 11th at 2:45 pm, the students and staff at Rose Pioneer will host the Huron Valley AMVETS Post 2006 at Rose Pioneer. Led my Mr. Roenicki, the students will sing patriotic music and teach us all about U.S. Veterans and how Veterans Day came to be. The Huron Valley AMVETS will open and close the ceremony with a presentation and retiring of colors. This will be a wonderful opportunity for us to show our gratitude and for students to learn about the sacrifices of our USA veterans. If you would like to join us, please arrive no earlier than 2:35 pm as we will be setting up quickly following student lunches.
Construction of the new Holly Middle School is progressing smoothly and is scheduled to open this fall in 2025. The new middle school is designed to create a 21st century learning environment with flexible, innovative learning spaces and modern amenities. If you want to follow along on the progress of the new Holly Middle School and other bond projects, please check out the Holly Area Schools Bond Progress updates page: https://www.hask12.org/has-bond/2022-bond-project-updates/
Are you, or someone you know, interested in becoming a noon supervisor in the cafeteria and on the playground at Rose Pioneer? If so, please contact the main office at 248.328.3800 and we'll set up a time to interview. This paid position is approximately 3 hours per day on all full days school is in session. It's a great way to get connected at Rose Pioneer and often leads to other opportunities!
Volunteer Background Check forms are available in the main office. We value your partnership and love parent volunteers at Rose Pioneer, but we must have a form filled out each year for each of our volunteers and chaperones. Filling one out is fast and free and allows parents to get involved as opportunities come up.
If you aren't already connected, please like Rose Pioneer Elementary School on Facebook and @RosePioneerEl on Twitter.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful fall weekend!
Sincerely,
Michael Beattie

THE LEADER IN ME
The Leader In Me & Core Competencies
Self Awareness is knowing what we are feeling and why. Identifying feelings and emotions can be difficult for many students. At Rose Pioneer, we use the Zones of Regulation to help students to think and talk about how they are feeling. The Zones of Regulation sort emotions into four different colored zones: blue, green, yellow and red. Once a student can identify the zone, they can often identify how their brain and body are feeling. Through specific strategies, the skill of self regulation can be used to ensure students are ready to learn.
