Rowan County Crosby Scholars has 10 scholarships that are only available to our Crosby Scholars Seniors! Since our scholarships aren't available to everyone, you are only competing with other Crosby Scholars in your graduating class!

The Crosby Scholars Impact Scholarship is a $1,000 renewable scholarship for up to 4 years awarded to one graduating senior from each high school.
Minimum Eligibility:
To be considered for this award, the applicant must:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Plan to attend a 2 or 4-year college or university
- Maintain a college GPA of 2.0 each semester
- Agree to allow Crosby Scholars to use Impact Statement responses for marketing purposes
- Provide a thorough response between 300-500 words to the following prompt:
Please share some specific instances of how being a part of the Crosby Scholars program has made a positive impact on your life and your college access journey.
The Antonio and Victoria Munoz Scholarship is a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship awarded to one or more Latino students.
Requirements:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Have at least one parent from a Latin American country
- Must be Spanish-speaking
- Have a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Essay: A 300-word minimum essay on the topic of how his/her family came to the US and the barriers your family had to overcome
- Finalists may be asked to interview before a final decision is made on a scholarship recipient
The David Post Public Service Scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000 scholarship to one graduating Crosby Scholars senior who demonstrates academic ability and strong community involvement.
Minimum Eligibility:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Attend a 4-year college or university
- GPA of 3.3 (unweighted) or higher
- a minimum 500-word essay answering the following prompt:
As you know, obtaining a good education is one of the most important ways to improve your future and the quality of your life. Many community organizations, like Crosby Scholars, provide hundreds of scholarships to graduating students in Salisbury and Rowan County to help make higher education possible. After you complete your education and start considering where to work and live, what factors would encourage you (and other young people like you) to return home to Salisbury and Rowan County to build your career and raise a family? In your essay, discuss what specific changes, opportunities, or improvements could make Salisbury and Rowan County an attractive place for young professionals and families. Consider areas like job availability, quality of life, community support, and how the area could meet your personal and professional needs. Be specific and thoughtful in your response, reflecting on what would make "coming back home" an appealing option for your future.
The John O. Reynolds Memorial Scholarship annually awards a non-renewable $1000 scholarship to one graduating Crosby Scholars senior from a family with demonstrated financial need who plans to attend a two or four-year college or university.
Minimum Eligibility:
To be considered for this award, the applicant must:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Demonstrate academic achievement by holding a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Have a household adjusted gross income (AGI) below $60,000 based on 2023 tax returns
- As the 2025-2026 FAFSA becomes available, we may ask any applicant to this scholarship to provide a Student Aid Index (SAI) before officially making a determination about awarding this scholarship.

- 2 Short Essays: Typed and double-spaced. Not to exceed 250 words each. Please have both essays saved to the same document in order to upload. Select 2 of these 3 prompts to answer:
- "What are your short-term and long-term goals?"
- "What do you think will be your biggest challenge in college and why?"
- "What has been your greatest accomplishment thus far?"
The John A. Carter Memorial Scholarship annually awards a non-renewable $1000 scholarship to one graduating Crosby Scholars senior from a middle income family with financial need who plans to attend a two- or four-year college or university.
Minimum Eligibility:
To be considered for this award, the applicant must:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Demonstrate academic achievement by holding a cumulative unweighted GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Have a household adjusted gross income (AGI) between $60,000 and $100,000 based on 2023 tax returns
- As the 2025-2026 FAFSA becomes available, we may ask any applicant to this scholarship to provide a Student Aid Index (SAI) before officially making a determination about awarding this scholarship.
- Submit a 350-word (max) essay answering the prompt: “Which adult in your life has had the most impact on you and why?”
Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina helps people overcome barriers to gainful employment. The Goodwill Willpower Scholarship will award a non-renewable $1,000 scholarship to one graduating Crosby Scholars senior who has weathered adversity resulting from a personal choice and has emerged with a remarkable story of willpower and determination. The applicant must plan to enroll in a two or four-year college or university. Two winners will be selected for this scholarship.
To be considered for this award, the applicant must:
- actively participate in extracurricular programs
- recipient must enroll in a two or four-year college or university
- complete all requirements of the Crosby Scholars program
The completed application includes:
1. Online application
2. Activities Resume - Current activities resume should be in chart form and should include hours of participation or service for each activity. Include community service involvement, as well as any part-time employment. Use the resume in your Crosby Scholars student portal as a guide.
3. Essay - Describe how willpower and determination have helped you overcome challenges you have encountered in your life. Describe how you overcame obstacles and found success. The essay should not exceed 500 words.
A $500 non-renewable scholarship is available to a graduating Crosby Scholars Senior who plans to enroll in a 2-year or 4-year college or university who is intending to pursue a degree in the allied health care field of study.
Eligibility criteria:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Submit 300-word (minimum) essay as to why he/she is choosing to enter the medical field and include goals and aspirations.
The Sue P. Fisher Community Service Scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000 scholarship to one graduating Crosby Scholars senior who has overcome adversity, shows respect for others (parents, family, teachers, law enforcement, and community leaders), has demonstrated qualities of a leader and has demonstrated the willingness and value of serving others.
Minimum Eligibility:
To be considered for this award, the applicant must:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Be a first-generation college student (a student whose parent(s)/legal guardian(s) have not completed a Bachelor's degree)
- Submit a 300-word (max) essay responding to the prompt: How do I plan to be an agent of POSITIVE CHANGE in my community?
The Paul Fisher Scholarship is a non-renewable $1,000 scholarship to one graduating Crosby Scholars senior who is a first-generation college student (neither parent has received a Bachelor’s degree) and plans to attend a four-year college or university.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Be a first-generation college student (a student whose parents have not completed a Bachelor's degree)
- Supply an unofficial copy of your HS Transcript
- Actively participate in extracurricular activities
- Submit a 250-word (max) essay discussing how you’ve been inspired educationally and how you hope to inspire others.
The Joyce Kohfeldt Memorial Scholarship provides one $1,000 non-renewable scholarship annually to a graduating Crosby Scholars senior who has overcome adversity while pursuing his or her educational goals and has emerged with a remarkable story of determination. Applicants must plan to enroll in a two-year or four-year college or university.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Be in good standing with the Crosby Scholars program by completing all requirements
- Actively participate in extracurricular activities as demonstrated on an activities resume
- Submit an essay discussing how determination has served you well throughout your life, and how it will continue to serve you as you embark upon your college journey (500 word maximum).
