Red Ribbon Week
This week, we recognize Red Ribbon Week® 2024 – this year’s theme is: Life Is A Movie, Film Drug Free. At school, students will engage in activities that promote a drug-free and healthy lifestyle. Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family. Ask your child to show you the ribbon he/she received from school. Want a fun way to start or continue the conversation about drugs with your children and have a chance to win an iPad? National Family Partnership is sponsoring a photo contest. This contest is free and simple, and you could win an iPad and $1,000 for our school!! Log onto www.redribbon.org and find out more!
Veterans Day Celebration
Veterans and current service members in our Oak Grove community are invited to attend our annual Veterans Day celebration with their families on the morning of Monday, November 11. This event is open to veterans, service members, and their families. We are excited to share that we will live-stream the event for all Oak Grove families to enjoy. The ceremony will begin promptly at 9:00 am in the Patt Gym. Check-in will start at 8:40 am. Please park in the upper or lower parking lot and have an ID available for check-in through the main entrance (door 1). The ceremony will be followed by refreshments and an opportunity to explore the Historical Artifact Museum, organized by the eighth-grade students. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP using this link.
If you would like to honor a veteran and have their picture displayed, please use the Honoring a Veteran form and submit it to the office or your child’s classroom teacher before the eventWeather - Reminder
As we transition from fall to winter weather, we would like to remind you to ensure that your children are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess in the mornings and throughout the day. Please send them with items such as sweatshirts, jackets, gloves, hats, long pants, and long sleeves to help them stay warm during outdoor activities.
As a reminder, we hold outdoor recess unless there is a safety concern due to precipitation like ice or rain, or if the temperature, including windchill, falls below 10 degrees. Thank you for your attention to this as we continue to prioritize our students' health and well-being during the colder months. If you have any questions please contact Ryan Murray at murray@ogschool.org

Social Emotional Screener
Every year the universal screener SAEBRS (Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener) is administered. Students in grades 3-8 participate in this screener by answering questions related to Social, Academic, and Emotional behavior. The data gathered from those surveys, along with information from staff members and parents, help to identify students in need of social-emotional interventions. The surveys will be completed this week.
