Dear GLOBE community,
As the school year comes to a close, I would like to acknowledge how proud I am of our students and their many accomplishments throughout the year.
It was wonderful to see so many families coming together last night to celebrate the graduation of our 8th grade students. It has been an absolute pleasure to watch them grow, many of whom have been at GLOBE since kindergarten. I look forward to hearing about the wonderful things they accomplish next. You can watch the 2024 graduation ceremony here on our YouTube channel.
Before officially beginning the summer break, please remember to complete our End-of-Year Parent Survey. This annual survey is a requirement of our school charter, and it should only take a few minutes of your time. Please also refer to the end-of-year checklist below.
While you're out this summer, look out for periodic GLOBE emails with key details about orientation, Board of Directors meetings, campus updates, and other information you'll need as we prepare for the next school year.
I’ll look forward to welcoming your students back for Orientation Day on Monday, August 5 and then the first day of school on Wednesday, August 7. I am so heartened by and thankful for our dynamic, engaged community and for all that you do to support GLOBE.
Wishing you all a happy and safe summer!
Sincerely,
Christi Elliott-Earby
Executive Director

Upper Campus Summer Assignments
There will be no specific graded assignments for summer at UC this year. We encourage students to relax and have some fun, take a walk, read a book, throw the ball for the dog. However, if they would like to brush up on or practice their skills, here are some suggestions.
1) Write in a journal every day. 2) Read, read, read! 3) IXL (Middle School Math, you can practice, fractions and decimals; mixed operations fractions; mixed operations decimals, number theory. 4) Khan Academy - math, reading and language arts, arts and sciences, getting ready for the next grade. 5) Watch documentaries about upcoming subjects in Social Studies. 6) Watch TV programs on science topics you may study next year. 7) Practice language vocabulary. 8) Watch movies and read books in target language.
Music
Congratulations to the band, chorus, and orchestra students on their first-place performances on May 11 at the Music in the Parks Festival! All of our ensembles competed in Class A, against schools of 750 students or fewer. The sixth-grade orchestra won first place in their division with an excellent rating. The chorus won first place in their division with a superior rating and tied for the highest score of any middle school chorus in any division. The band also won first place in their division with a superior rating and they won the prize for the overall highest score of any middle school band in all divisions!
UC Clinic
A reminder to all parents of rising 7th grade students. They will need to have their Tdap and MCV4 immunizations. These are due for the new school year per the Georgia Department of Public Health. If you have questions, please contact your Pediatrician.
We are also in need of an emergency supply of quality used clothing (male and female). Any donations will be appreciated at the beginning of the new school year. Have a great and safe Summer!
Admissions
Annual Verification
GLOBE's annual verification is separate from DeKalb County School District. Notifications regarding GLOBE's Annual Verification process will be communicated in July.
Please let us know if your plans to attend GLOBE have changed
GLOBE is excited to welcome our new and returning students to our community next year, however, we do understand that plans can change. Having an accurate count for the school year allows us to plan and budget appropriately and allows a student from our waiting list to fill the open spot.
If your plans to return to GLOBE have changed from “yes” to “no” between now and the start of the 2024/25 school year, please let us know by completing this form: Student Withdrawal Notification*.
*The Student Withdrawal Form requires a Google account sign-in to upload the necessary ID documents. If you do not have a Google account, please contact the Registrar to notify us.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tamiko Jones, Admissions Coordinator, via email at Admissions@theglobeacademy.net or call 404-464-7040, ext. 225.
Records Requests

Parent Teacher Community Council
Our most sincere thank you to all volunteers!
On May 9, PTCC hosted its annual volunteer recognition night. It was a wonderful event that brought together school admin and PTCC leadership and volunteers. During that celebration, PTCC was also thrilled to recognize the many ways in which Florence Cannon has significantly contributed to the well-being of our school community. Her twins are graduating this year from GLOBE. She and her family will be missed. Thank you, Florence, for all that you have given PTCC and GLOBE for the past nine years.
Our most sincere thanks to all who made this year a success especially all of our PAC leaders, teacher liaison Ms. Bowden, subcommittees and every volunteer! We wish everyone a wonderful summer.

Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
