STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS
The Mustangs wrestling team sent 10 wrestlers to the State Tournament and came home with a new school record of 7 place winners! Congratulations to:
- Caden Grenier (10) 6th Place
- Will Schnieder (11) 6th Place
- Owen LaRose (11) 5th Place
- Colton Loween (12) 5th Place
- Joey Muhlstein (12) 4th Place
- Ethan Swenson (12) 2nd Place
Special shout out to Brett Swenson (12) on winning his second State Title! Both Joey Muhlstein and Brett Swenson also became Mounds Views 3rd and 4th, 3-time state place winners!
SECTION RESULTS
The Swim & Dive team had an incredible showing this weekend at section finals earning 2nd place as a team! Friday the divers lead the way with all three of them making it onto the podium:
- Micah Prindle – 2nd place (State competitor)
- Charlie Hieb – 3rd place (State competitor)
- Alex Olson – 7th place
Individual swim qualifiers for this week's state meet:
- Danny Bai in the 50 and 100 Freestyle
- Luke Schmitzer in the 500 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke.
- Danny Bai, Luke Schmitzer, Holden Then, and Ben Lawrence for the 200 Medley Relay
- Danny Bai, Peyton Kwan, Luke Schmitzer, and Ben Lawrence for the 200 Freestyle Relay

BOYS VOLLEYBALL: This is the last week of open gyms for boys volleyball. Meet in the MAC from 8-10 PM on Monday (3/3) and Wednesday (3/5).
GIRLS TRACK & FIELD: Girls track & field meets on Tuesday (3/4) at 3:30 PM in the Forum. The "Back to Track" parent and athlete preseason meeting is Monday (3/10) at 7:00 PM in the auditorium.
BOYS GOLF: Boys golf pre-season parent/student meeting is on Wednesday (3/5) at 7:00 PM in the Mounds View High School auditorium. Reach out to Coach Schmidt with any questions.
MN CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION MONTH
Did you know? 7.8 million high school students participate in CTE, learning skills in the classroom and in the workplace. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz declared February as Career and Technical Education (CTE) month.
During the 2024 school year in the state of Minnesota:
- 124,056 students participated in CTE programs
- 78,988 students are CTE concentrators, earning four or more credits in a single cluster
- CTE high school students are college and career ready – 96% graduate high school and most enroll directly in college.
- 26.5% of all postsecondary degrees and certificates awarded statewide are in CTE
- 93% of Minnesota CTE students graduated in four years
- 61% of Minnesota CTE students went on to two or four-year postsecondary institutions
Mounds View High School Fast Facts:
- On average, 38% of MVHS students are CTE concentrators by the end of their senior year, earning four or more credits in the business, marketing, and careers department
- 29 classes qualify for articulated college credits, offering postsecondary credit in the high school classroom
- We are a comprehensive, high quality CTE program, consisting of:
- rigorous, standards-aligned coursework with pathways, leading to postsecondary credentials
- career-connected learning and experiential learning (industry site visits, industry guest speakers)
- work-based learning (work experience, job shadows, informational interviews, internships)
- student leadership development through student organizations (DECA, Mock Trial, Educators Rising, Personal Finance Decathlon, Start-Up Business Club, SkillsUSA, Robotics)

CLARIFICATION TO BOYS & GIRLS LACROSSE TRYOUTS
Per the MSHSL, spring sports first day of tryouts/practice are as follows:
- March 10: softball, boys track & field, girls track & field
- March 17: boys golf, girls golf, baseball, boys volleyball
- March 24: boys tennis
- March 31: boys lacrosse (meet on no school day March 31)
- March 31: girls lacrosse (March 31 is no school day for MV, so tryouts/practice would be Tuesday (4/1))
Your child must have a valid sports physical on file prior to registering. Physicals are valid for three (3) years from the date of the exam. IF your child's physical expires during the season, you won't be able to register. Parents can check the current status of their child’s physical through their ParentVUE account by selecting the Student Info tab. The physical date is located at the bottom of the page.

TRAVEL ABROAD - NOVEMBER 2025
There is still time to register for the Mounds View High School Social Studies Trip to Austria, Hungary, and Czechia. Any student may attend and the trip will run over Thanksgiving Break in 2025.
