JACKSON MISSION STATEMENT:
The mission of Jackson Elementary School is to provide a safe and supportive learning environment in order to ensure high levels of learning for ALL students.
JACKSON VISION STATEMENT:
We are mission-driven, highly motivated, and maintain the highest expectations for ourselves, our students, and our colleagues. Our students are precious, and we will treat them kindly and with love every day. All of our students will succeed academically no matter what! Our tenacity and focus on what’s best for our children will guide our actions every day.
Hello Jackson Families!
Yay--it's May and STAAR testing is officially over! It's hard to believe that there's only 3 weeks left of the 2024-2025 school year. It has sure flown by!
We have a lot of fun activities coming up: Teacher Appreciation Week, Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day, Adventure Landing Spirit Night, Field Day, Jackson Reading Night, Awards Assemblies, yearbook signing and end-of-year celebrations! All of our students will also take end-of-year MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments. We know our students have worked hard, and we look forward to seeing the academic growth!
We also look forward to celebrating Jackson’s awesome teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 5-9. Our PTA has several treats planned for Jackson staff and we have included a flyer below with suggested ways that students can express appreciation for their teachers. For example, Monday's suggestion is bring your teacher her favorite sweet treat! Our teachers and staff strive to create a nurturing learning environment where each child feels valued and supported. We love our teachers and staff--they make a difference every day!
“A good teacher can inspire hope; ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning.” —Brad Henry
Wednesday, May 7, will be our last Spirit Night of the school year and PTA has planned a super fun event at Adventure Landing from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Just imagine--3 hours of unlimited mini golf, go-karts and laser tag for $16 per person and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to Jackson PTA! Food is available for purchase separately. What a great way to wrap up the school year!
We have another fun event coming up on Friday, May 9--Jackson Field Day! Our students love the game challenges and camaraderie of this event! Kinder through 2nd graders will kick off the fun from 8:00 am to 10:30 am and 3rd through 5th graders from 12:00 am to 2:30 pm. We are encouraging students to wear their grade-level T-shirt or grade-level color T-shirt and to bring sunscreen and a change of clothes (they will get wet during water games!).
At Field Day this year, there will be nine game stations rotating every 15 minutes and volunteers are needed to assist in setting up games and monitoring classes as they enjoy each station. During Free Time, PTA will need your help handing out popsicles and assisting students with clean up. To volunteer, parents must be cleared through Voly. Please click on the link below for volunteer opportunities. Let's make this Field Day unforgettable!

Since we are getting so close to the end of the year, I would like to remind parents that we still have a lot of items in our "Lost and Found" area that will be donated to charity at the end of the year if they are not claimed. We would love to get everything back to the rightful owners; so, if you can, please come up to school and take a look or remind your child to take a look for any missing coats, clothing items, water bottles or lunch bags.
We will be acknowledging our Jaguars of the Month for April and sharing more details of May events in an eNews later this week.
Thank you!

Classroom Lessons
Welcome to the Counselors’ Corner! We will use this section of the eNews to inform you all of topics we will be covering in our Counselor lessons and any other important or useful information! Students come with their class to the counselor bi-weekly to receive lessons. We absolutely love this time with them!
For our next lesson, the weeks of 05/05 & 05/12, we will be focusing on Summer Safety and Transitions! We will be discussing ways to stay safe this summer by addressing personal safety skills and the importance of staying hydrated, knowing how to locate a first-aid kit, identifying safe adults, and so much more! We want to ensure summer is a safe and healthy one for students! We will also focus on transitions so students feel confident and ready for their next grade level! Transitions play a vital role in building self-regulation, promoting social-emotional skills, and helping children prepare for future changes. When transitions are handled effectively, they can help children feel more secure, confident, and capable of managing change. This will be our last lesson of the year! We cannot believe how fast the time has flown! We have absolutely loved getting to work with all students and seeing all the growth that has been made! We are already looking forward to our lessons next school year!
Jaguar of the Month Program
Jaguar of the Month is a student reward program (Grades K-5) that incorporates character traits from the program, CharacterStrong. A new character trait is introduced every month and students will engage in classroom discussions and activities to reinforce the trait. At the end of the month, each teacher will identify a student who consistently demonstrated the targeted trait. These students will be recognized on JagTube, receive a certificate, wristband, and a Jackson Jaguar pencil. Grade level group photos will be displayed on the bulletin board near the front office AND Jaguars of the Month will attend a popsicle party with Dr. Roach, our principal, and Mr. Riggle, our assistant principal!
Our final Jaguar of the Month Trait is Creativity! Our definition of Creativity is using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem. Check out the CharacterStrong Family Letter (English) / CharacterStrong Family Letter (Spanish) for more information about PurposeFull People and some fun ways you can join us in teaching and reinforcing Cooperation! Monthly Family Newsletters will be sent home that outline the CharacterStrong skills students are learning in class and provide fun ideas to grow as a family at home.
We hope you find this Counselors’ Corner helpful! Please never hesitate to reach out for anything! We are always here to support you and your students!
Thank you!
