It is hard to believe that it is already mid- August! I am thrilled to be back at Hunting Ridge to serve as your school principal! I can't wait to meet all of our students, staff, and families as we get ready for the 2024-2025 school year. The Hunting Ridge Team hopes that you are all enjoying this extra long summer, and we cannot wait for school to begin in September! The building is coming together nicely with all of the construction happening on each floor. We can't wait to show you the updates as we welcome families for Meet the Teacher and Parent Orientation in September.

Please mark your calendars with the following events:

Thursday, August 15, 2024: PTA Dine and Donate at My Flavor It! Place from 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. (117 W. Slade St, Palatine).

Monday, August 19, 2024: Parents/Guardians will be able to see their child's teacher for this school year in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (Students must be fully registered to view the teacher).

Tuesday, August 27, 2024: Incoming Kindergarten Play Date from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Hunting Ridge's Playground.

Wednesday, August 28, 2024: Incoming First Grade Play Date from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Hunting Ridge's Playground.

Tuesday, September 3, 2024: Meet the Teacher from 1:45 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Meet the Teacher is an opportunity for parents/guardians to bring their child(ren) into their new classroom, drop off supplies, meet their teacher, tour the school, and get excited about the start of the year!

Thursday, September 5, 2024: The first day of school for all students at Hunting Ridge! Doors open at 8:10 a.m., with instruction beginning at 8:25 a.m. Dismissal will be at 3:05 p.m.

Friday, September 6, 2024: This is our first early release Friday. School will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m. every Friday for the entire school year.

Thursday, September 19, 2024: First PTA Meeting at 6:30 p.m. (for new members), and 7:00 p.m. for all members in Hunting Ridge's library.

Tuesday, September 24, 2024: Parent Orientation between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The schedule is listed below in the "Upcoming Events" section of this newsletter. Parent Orientation is a time for parents and guardians to come to their child's classroom to learn from the teacher about the curriculum, procedures, communication, an ability to ask questions, and any pertinent information about the classroom and Hunting Ridge School.

Saturday, October 5, 2024: The 10th annual Hawk Hustle Fundraiser at 8:00 a.m.!

We hope that you are able to join us for all of these wonderful events. We value strong parent/guardian partnerships and know that this will lead to improved learning outcomes for our students. Call for 2024-25 Committee Chairs

We have six committees that are looking for new Chairs for the upcoming school year. See our current openings, and if interested, comment with your name and email address so we can reach out. Need more details on the time commitment? Let us know and we can put you in touch with previous Chairs. Think you want to do it with a friend and split the role? The more the merrier! We're off to a great start in planning all the fun this upcoming school year, so join us and let's make this the best year yet!

Early bird registration for the 2024 Hawk Hustle opens next week! Save the date and join us for our largest fundraiser of the school year. It's our 10th anniversary, and we're working hard to make this event extra special for all of our participants.

The Hunting Ridge PTA is hosting a playdate for all 2024-25 incoming kindergarteners and 1st graders on August 27 and 28 from 6-7 pm at the school playground***. Be sure to stop by and have your child meet new friends, see old friends, and find out who's in their classroom! Events are limited to only those going into kindergarten or 1st grade at Hunting Ridge, and all parents MUST STAY. The school will NOT be open during the event.

***In the event that the playground is still closed from summer construction, we'll move to another park in the area.***

Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school - and themselves! Build habits early so they learn right way that going to school on time every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school and college!
