THE IMPORTANCE OF CAMPUS VISITS
Schedule a campus visit to help your student get excited about post secondary options and jump start the planning process. Campus visits provide guided tours, overview of college admissions and a glimpse into the life of a college student.
Schedule your campus visit on the college’s website. Campus visits are free and offered year round. Many campuses offer multiple tour times throughout the week including weekends.
It’s never too early to begin touring college campuses!
Northwood Technical College Campus Visit
Or search your College of Interest website
On Thursday, October 31st, our juniors explored one of four college campuses - UW River Falls, UW Stout, UW Eau Claire, and Northwood Technical College - Rice Lake.
PRE-ACT/ACT PRACTICE EXAM
WHAT: The pre-ACT and ACT are required state assessments that are taken in the spring. To best prepare students for the assessment, we do two practice assessments. This not only gives students an opportunity to practice, but it also gives teachers an idea of what areas each student needs to continue building.
RESULTS: Individual score reports will be sent home for your review.
OHS BAND
Thank you to our OHS Band for all their support and school spirit this Fall!

We will soon be starting a SPARK support group in which we would like to invite your child to participate. The purpose of the group is to help your child discuss and deal with issues and situations that girls often face during their teenage years. The group will focus on positive choices, communication, resiliency, friendships, relationships, self-esteem, stress, reaching out for help, and getting through tough times. In addition, the group will provide your child with the opportunity to openly discuss these issues in a safe and supportive environment.
We will meet as a group for a 45-minute session on Tuesday mornings, every week for 12 weeks beginning Tuesday, November 12th. The group facilitator is Brittany Whittier (Child and Youth Advocate) with Community Referral Agency (CRA). Confidentiality Pledge
BLESSING BASKETS
Could your family benefit from some additional resources this holiday season?
Blessing Baskets is an Osceola-based community program that supplies toys, clothes, winter gear, and food vouchers to families who could use some extra help around the holidays. Last year's changes were so successful, we have decided to keep it this way going forward so that the parents/guardians can be more involved in the selection of items for their children. Just a reminder that because of this change, after you have chosen to sign up, coordinators (Kayli Schounard and Jen Rud) will be in contact with you to set up a personal shopping date and time. These days are expected to fall in the week of December 8th, and if you or your chosen delegate are unable to attend, there will not be a delivery option. Please fill out the following link or reach out to either one of us if you have any questions.
Please respond by October 20th, so we can plan and prepare. You will be contacted via your preferred method for the next step.
Thank you,
Kayli Schounard (715) 497-3593
Jen Rud (651) 303-3664
