April 14: “Taking Your Turn in the Channel,” Rev. Scott W. Alexander
Scott writes: Over the course of the 250+ years of “The American Experiment” there has always been a creative and vexing tension between “individualism” and “collectivism.” It seems to me that how our society navigates this timeless tension (in these early and troubling years of the 21st Century) will determine not only our success as a nation, but indeed the survival of our democracy. Do be with us as we explore this important and timely topic.
April 21: "Tending Our Precious Planet Earth," Rev. Scott Alexander, Julie Cabaniss,
Katie Egan-Bruhy, Dana Lusk
Our UCN Intergenerational Earth Day Sunday Celebration
On this Sunday at UCN we will be gathering as an intergenerational faith community to celebrate, honor and protect our precious planet earth. We will share several reflections about our essential (yet complicated) relationship with our Mother Earth, as well as earth-centered music, story and poetry. Do be with us for this special and festive Spring Sunday.
From Rev. Scott
Conversation with the Minister
Join us for a Zoom call with Scott on Saturday, April 13 at 10 am:
"Developing Spiritual Practices for staying calm in a crazy world."
This world of ours right now seems to be getting crazier and more troublesome by the day. Perhaps there are some "spiritual practices" which we can incorporate into our lives that will help us meet the challenges and stresses of our time with greater equanimity, purpose and calm. Let's spend an hour that Saturday morning to explore this together.

We Got This Milwaukee visits this Sunday!
The Share the Plate recipient from January and February this year, We Got This Community Garden Milwaukee, was so moved by our generous donation that they have offered to come to UCN to meet us and do a short, 10-minute presentation about their work. After the service on Sunday, April 14, you are invited to get some coffee and return to the sanctuary by 11:15 to hear the We Got This presentation. The Zoom link will remain active so that people at home will also be able to hear the message.
The Democracy Tour is coming to UCN!
The Building Unity Democracy Tour is planning stops in Wisconsin’s 33 Senate Districts and each of Wisconsin's First Nations between March 15th and the end of May. The goal of the Democracy Tour is to engage, inform, inspire, register and mobilize voters for critical elections coming up in 2024. Building Unity is a non-partisan project of the PC foundation, working to build grassroots support for a more peaceful, just, sustainable and democratic Wisconsin and world.
Our goal is to hold "All Peoples' Forums" where local activists, community leaders, candidates and others will have an opportunity to listen and be listened to and share information about the importance of turning out the vote, and building a movement for people, peace, and our planet.
The kick-off and launch for the Tour was Friday, March 15th from the Labor Temple in Madison. The Democracy Tour will be planning a stop in Mequon on April 13th at Unitarian Church North. The doors will open at 1:30 and the event will begin at 2:00. It will be held in the sanctuary and on Zoom. See the poster below.
