HAUTAPU SCHOOL PANUI
3 April 2024
Week 10, Term 1
Principal's Message
I trust you all had a delightful and safe Easter holiday; we were fortunate to have such favourable weather.
Last week’s highlight was hosting a group of Junior High students from Odate, Japan. I was proud of our students for the way they interacted and showed manaakitanga (respect, generosity and care) towards our guests. The Rural Tour Company guides are always full of praise for our students and staff. We’re honoured to be the only school they visit during their time in New Zealand. Thank you to Stephanie Barr, Annalise Catchpole and Cheryl Murphy for organising such a lovely opportunity for our students. Thank you also to our Year 7/8 families for providing fruit and baking today. It was much appreciated.
We are pleased to announce that our Bingo Night raised a total of $3,985.91. This amount will facilitate the purchase of additional resources for literacy and contribute towards funding literacy professional development for our teachers. We extend our heartfelt gratitude again to Amy Giibs and Hayley McGovern as well as the numerous sponsors who generously donated prizes and to the families who contributed financially to this event.
Another highlight for our students last week was the Easter Raffle. We extend our gratitude to the generosity of our community for donating Easter items and for their commitment to selling a significant number of tickets. We successfully fundraised $2,067 with all proceeds designated for purchasing Science and Technology resources.
We’re looking forward to our Whānau Learning Conversations on Thursday and on Wednesday the following week. This will be an opportunity for you to find out about your child’s progress and achievement as well as the opportunity to set some goals for your child alongside their teacher.
