TIPS FOR LEARNING AT HOME
Here are some practical and easy tips for supporting learning at home across different subjects:
1. Create a Dedicated Learning Space
- Set up a quiet, organized spot for studying, free from distractions, with all the necessary supplies (pencils, paper, charger, etc.) to help kids stay focused.
2. Establish a Consistent Routine
- Design a schedule that includes time for homework, breaks, and family activities to create a structured learning environment. A consistent routine helps kids know what to expect and manage their time effectively.
3. Encourage Reading Every Day
- Dedicate at least 20 minutes each day to reading. Whether it’s a book, magazine, or online article, reading daily strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking. Read together or set aside family reading time if possible.
4. Practice Math in Everyday Situations
- Incorporate math into daily life: count change at the store, measure ingredients while cooking, or compare prices while shopping. Practical math applications build confidence and help kids see its real-world value.
5. Set Goals and Reward Progress
- Help children set small, achievable goals for their assignments or reading, and celebrate their achievements to keep them motivated. Rewards could be as simple as extra playtime, a favorite snack, or a fun family activity.
6. Celebrate Small Wins and Progress
- Recognize their hard work and small improvements, even if they don’t always get perfect results. Positive reinforcement builds confidence and motivation to keep learning.

RAINY DAY DISMISSAL PROCEDURE FOR STUDENT WALKERS
RAINY DAY DISMISSAL PROCEDURE FOR STUDENTS THAT ARE WALKERS:

STUDENT ATTENDANCE COUNTS
Every day at school is a new opportunity for your child to learn, grow, and shine. Let’s make each day count together!
- Texas public school students must attend school at least 90% of the time a class is offered to receive credit or a final grade.
- If a student has three or more unexcused absences, days or parts of days within a four week period or ten or more days or parts of days within a six month period, they are considered truant.
- Excused absences in Texas public schools count as absences, but they don't count against a student and they don't count toward truancy. Excused absences are counted as if the student attended school for purposes of calculating average daily attendance.
