Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am excited to welcome you back to the start of a new school year! I am absolutely thrilled for the year ahead as we are about to begin another year of learning and growth together.

Our entire staff will be diligently preparing over the coming weeks to ensure all of our students have the best educational opportunities possible. This year is particularly special as we will continue to build upon our strong community and traditions to provide our students with the support they need to be successful.

I want to personally welcome our families. For those of you who are new, I know you will find John Wetten Elementary to be a warm and welcoming place for your children. We have incredible staff and outstanding partnerships with our families and the community of Gladstone.

Together we will make this year the best yet for our students. As always, if there is anything myself or any of our staff can do to help partner with you, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I can’t wait to see you all soon!

We know students are excited to find out who their new teacher will be. All students who are registered by August 23rd will be able to login to their ParentVue account after 3:30 p.m. to see who their new teacher will be. For anyone needing assistance, please contact Melissa Hensley @ hensleym@gladstone.k12.or.us or call 503-656-6564 Ext:205.

**Please note that we are unable to take requests for specific teacher changes. Student placements are based on class sizes and with the intent to balance the needs within each classroom.**

Please join us for an Open House on August 29th, 4:30-6:30. This is your chance to meet the teacher, see their classroom and drop off school supplies. All of our teaching staff will be here so you can also meet our specialists and ask questions. The Nurse will be here to drop off medicine, the Bus Barn will be here to answer your transportation questions, and Dorian will be here this year to take photographs of those who wish to volunteer for your Volunteer ID Badge. You will get a packet of information from the classroom teacher at Open House which will include the school calendar and other important documents.

The Gladstone School District is now eligible to provide all four of our districts schools with free meals through the State of Oregon's Community Eligibility Provision. This means that all students are able to get one breakfast and one lunch at no charge each day.

No action is required, your student(s) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to apply.

• 7:30 a.m. - Building Opens for Breakfast
• 7:50 a.m. - Classrooms Open to Students
• 8:00 a.m. - Learning Begins
• 2:20 p.m. - Dismissal (M, T, Th, F)
• 1:20 p.m. - Early Release (Wednesday's ONLY beginning 9/11)
