Memorial Update

February 27, 2023
Good Morning Memorial Families,
I hope that you enjoyed a wonderful February break. The next month and a half will be full of learning, activities, and MCAS in grades 3 and 4. This week we will celebrate Read Across America Day on Thursday, and will have the wonderful and talented Sheryl Faye join us for two separate performances on Friday afternoon. We will also have a spirit week coordinated by our Student Advisory Group. You can see the schedule below, and it was also sent out as a flier before vacation.
Our School Council is once again soliciting feedback from families about how we are doing as a school community. From last year's feedback, we developed a school improvement plan goal in the area of communication. Communication can be difficult to measure because everyone prefers to receive it in different ways. We have been trying out some different communication strategies this year, through our website, teacher websites, specialist newsletters, social media, and the Talking Points app which will translate into any language pretty well. Please take some time once again this year to provide us with some feedback so that we can determine our next steps as a school. Please click here to access our parent survey, which will remain open for two weeks. Thank you in advance for your time!
This week our students will be reviewing the RISE matrix and practicing expected behaviors across all areas of the school. It is a great time of year to review our expected behaviors as we head into the next 8 weeks of school. I am once again attaching our RISE matrix for you to review at home as well. Grades for Trimester two will close in just a few weeks, and Powerschool will open for parents to view report cards on March 21st. Please pay careful attention to the work habits and habits of mind section, as these are the most important skills that we are trying to develop in young learners that will set them up for success down the road when academic grades are more impactful.
We are looking forward to a smooth transition into spring and into the final trimester of the year.
Warmly,
Lauren and Wendy
