Childhood Anxiety
Childhood anxiety is on the rise, so feel free to talk to your child about it. Ask them how often they feel anxious, what it feels like in their body (how they can tell), and what helps them feel better. And remember, modeling is the best teacher! Lead by example and honestly share when you are feeling anxious and what you do to calm down.
Low levels of stress and anxiety are actually good for us! Feel free to reach out to Mrs. Fortney if you think your child has above average anxiety.
A favorite stress relieving strategy...
Practice deep breathing strategies with your child as a way to calm down when feeling anxious. Inhale like you’re smelling a flower, exhale like you’re blowing out a candle or imagine you are holding a cup of hot chocolate...breath in through your nose to smell it, blow out your mouth to cool down the hot chocolate!
