The Final Countdown of 2022!
As we are easing in the winter months, I want to let you know we have some new members on our staff. Wanda Winters has joined our amazing kitchen crew and has jumped right in to helping to serve our students and staff each day with a smile. Brent Pearson transitioned this week to MSMS from MHS and is a Special Educator working with our 7/8 team. Will MacDonald is a new social worker splitting his time between MSMS and UES providing support to our Rise and Shine program spaces. We are super excited to welcome our new staff to our community!
I just want to make a few other reminders!
1. Recess! All of our students are expected to join outdoor recess for 25 minutes a day. While this is always a welcomed break when the weather is great the colder and wetter weather make it more challenging. Please make sure you reinforce your Gator to come to school each day with outdoor winter weather garments that allow them to be outside for this important part of their day. If you have a need, please let us know that too!
2. Bussing is limited to ONLY students who are regularly riding to get to and from home or their afterschool care providers. We do not have the capacity on our buses to have students ride home with their friends on different buses each day. Please make sure to make other arrangements as needed.
3. Attendance - just a reminder if your student will be out for any reason please make sure that you contact the front office to let them know. This includes any appointments or early dismissals. We must have permission from a caregiver before we can let them go.

MSMS_Sustain: Lost and Found Announcement
The week before Thanksgiving break, the Lost and Found committee organized a walk through of all our items. Students were able to review Lost and Found inventory and claim missing items. This event was held in preparation for our first donation to Amy's Armoire in Barre.
Amy's Armoire uses proceeds from the sale of clothing to help support and improve outcomes for Vermont's foster/adopted children and youth by connecting families to the resources they need. "In addition to providing a place to recycle clothing, we sell items at modest prices. Any funds remaining after operating expenses will be disbursed to support the stabilization of foster/adopted children in their current home, to help foster/adoptive parents have access to the supports they need to succeed."
Prior to our first donation, we are urging the Main Street Middle School community to review the Lost and Found website and to claim any missing items using this form.
ALL ITEMS NOT CLAIMED BY FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16th will be donated the following week."

Attention 8th Grade Students and Caregivers!
Donate lunch ingredients by December 2!
MSMS is co-hosting the Solidarity Craft Fair fundraiser on Dec. 10th to make sure all students can go on the 8th grade trip to Montreal and we need you! Please use this spreadsheet to sign up to donate ingredients to the MSMS Sustain class who will make Butternut Squash Chili and Butternut Soup to sell at the Fair. Donations are needed.
The Solidarity Craft Fair will be held at the Bethany and Unitarian Churches on Main Street in Montpelier. There will be around 30 craft and food vendors, homemade lunch and dessert crepes, and a huge silent auction with donations from local businesses! If you would like to make a donation to the silent auction, we would love that! Please sign up to donate to the auction in the spreadsheet. While filling out the spreadsheet, please be respectful, and don’t write in a box that is already filled. Thank you!
The proceeds from the Craft Fair luncheon and silent auction will go toward the 8th Grade field trip to Montreal! If you have any questions about the fair, please contact bethmerrill@mpsvt.org.
