Prayer of Gratitude for Teachers and Educational Assistants
Loving and Gracious God,
We stand before you with hearts full of gratitude for the teachers and educational assistants
who dedicate themselves to nurturing and guiding our children.
Thank you for their patience, wisdom and kindness,
as they create spaces where students feel valued, supported and encouraged to grow.
We are grateful for their passion for learning and their commitment to shaping young minds, planting seeds of curiosity and inspiring a lifelong love for knowledge.
We ask for your blessings upon them,
that they may have strength and resilience as they face the challenges of each day.
May they find joy in the successes of their students and be comforted in the knowledge that their efforts make a lasting impact.
Grant them peace in moments of stress and fill them with renewed energy and creativity to continue the important work they do.
Guide them in their calling to nurture the unique potential of each child.
We thank you, Lord, for their service and their care,
and we ask that you surround them with your love and grace always.
Amen.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Members of our School Community,
It’s hard to believe how quickly the year is flying by and I’m grateful for the energy and enthusiasm our students, staff and families continue to bring each day. Term 4 is always a busy and exciting time, with lots of events, celebrations and learning opportunities still to come.
Our students are working hard to finish the year on a positive note, and I thank our teachers for their dedication in supporting every child’s growth and wellbeing. As we approach the end of the school year, I encourage everyone to stay focused, take time to enjoy these moments, and look out for each other.
WORLD TEACHERS AND EDUCATION ASSISTANTS' DAY - Thank you to our amazing P&F for their generous contribution to acknowledge our dedicated staff. The P&F recognised the hard work and dedication of all St Peter’s staff members with a coffee van and morning tea this morning. World Teachers’ Day is a great opportunity to recognise our teachers, education assistants and administration staff for their skilled work in educating, inspiring and supporting our students.
YEAR THREE ASSEMBLY - Thank you to our Year 3 students and teachers for the entertaining assembly item this morning. The students engaged the audience with their love of learning and the traits that make a great teacher in honour of World Teachers' Day, complete with choral speech, entertaining interviews and a fun song about the importance of love.
INTERSCHOOL ATHLETICS CARNIVAL - On Thursday, our Year Three to Year Six students participated in the Interschool Athletics Carnival at WA Athletics Stadium, Floreat. Thank you to Miss Eliza Hardie and the other St Peter’s staff for attending early morning training sessions to suitably prepare our students for the event. The interschool athletics carnival brought together students from different Catholic Schools to celebrate sportsmanship, talent, and healthy competition. All students involved represented St Peter’s with pride, while having fun and enjoying the interschool experience.
ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETING - Our Annual Community Meeting for the Catholic School Advisory Council and P&F will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday 19 November in the library. At 5:30pm, prior to the commencement of the meeting we will thank all our parent volunteers with drinks and nibbles. Parent support and dedication is greatly appreciated and is fundamental for the success of our school. We hope you can join us to celebrate another wonderful year at St Peter’s Primary School!
STAFFING NEWS - Congratulations to Mrs Saroya Powell who has been appointed to a teaching position at St. Brigid’s Catholic College, Lesmurdie for the 2025 school year. We thank Saroya for her two years at St Peter’s and wish her well for the future.
We wish farewell to Tracy Marrapodi, who is retiring. Tracy’s last day at St Peter’s will be
Wednesday, 13 November. We wish Tracy all the best for the next stage of her career and future endeavours.
I would like to announce that Margaret Warrener will be retiring from St Peter’s at the end of 2024. Margie will still be involved at St Peter’s in a relief teaching capacity during 2025. I would like to express my gratitude to Margie for her contributions to St Peter’s over many years, and we will have the opportunity to formally acknowledge this at our Staff Farewells at the end of this year. Please join me in wishing Margie all the best in this exciting new chapter - her commitment has been greatly appreciated.
In addition, Paulette Aquino will be taking leave for 2025. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Paulette all the best for her year of leave and we look forward to welcoming her back to
St Peter’s in 2026.
And finally, Dimitri Bakarozos has secured a gardening/maintenance position at New Norcia Monastery, starting in mid-November, and will be concluding his time at St Peter’s in two weeks time. Dimitri will join us for morning tea during our Cluster Muster PD, when we can acknowledge the invaluable help and assistance that he has provided to St Peter’s over the last two years. I know you join me in wishing Dimitri all the very best in his new career.
We also congratulate Mrs Aleshia Procopis who has been appointed in an on-going capacity to a teaching position at St Peter’s. Aleshia brings a wealthy of knowledge and experience to her role. She has spent the past three years at Padbury Catholic Primary and prior to that was at
Mary Mackillop Primary for several years. I know you will join me in welcoming Aleshia to
St Peter’s.

KINDY – YEAR 6 CHRISTMAS CONCERT - Our Kindy-Year 6 Christmas Concert will be held on the evening of Thursday 28 November 2024. The concert will commence at 6:00pm and be held at Catherine Reserve (Rosebery St & Catherine St, Bedford). As per previous years, our Pre-Kindy class will have their own end of year celebration in the library.
All families are invited to a BYO picnic dinner from 5pm, before each year level will be called over the microphone at 5:45pm to come forward to their designated class area in front of the stage, to ensure the concert can begin at 6pm and conclude by 7pm. To ensure the smooth and timely running of the concert, all students will need to remain sitting with their class for the duration of the concert, and students will be released to their parents or caregiver at the conclusion of the event.
As it is an evening concert, the invitation is being extended to parents and grandparents. It also means that all our families will be able to watch all children participate in the one concert.
As outlined in the letter at the end of Term Three, each cohort will perform a dance that contributes to the theme, ‘A Movie Adventure’. This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their talents and demonstrate what they have learnt during dance lessons this term. On the evening, our school will provide you with copy of the program for the night.
This is an Alcohol-Free event, and families are invited to BYO one family picnic rug and/or low picnic chairs. As it is a public venue, picnic rugs and chairs can be placed in the marked designated seating area only from 4pm onwards. Audience seating will be split into two sections, with picnic rugs being assigned the area in front of those on picnic chairs. A map of the venue including details for parking and seating will be communicated closer to the event. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!

NEW PLAY SPACE - We're excited to share that our new play space is thriving! Students are enjoying the expanded areas for outdoor activities, fostering creativity and physical fitness. To enhance this experience further, the school is exploring the installation of shade sails in key areas. These will provide much-needed protection from the sun, ensuring our students can play comfortably throughout the year. Stay tuned for more updates as we work to create an even better outdoor environment for our community!
GRANDPARENTS' MASS - We were delighted to host a heartwarming Grandparents' Mass, beautifully led by our Year 5 students. The ceremony was a touching tribute, showcasing the special bond between our students and their grandparents. Through thoughtful readings and meaningful songs, the Year 5s created a warm atmosphere that celebrated family and community. Thank you to everyone who attended and made this event so memorable! We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate our wonderful community together.
MOTHER MARY PROCESSION - This Sunday after the 5pm Mass, there will be a Mother Mary procession and Rosary over at the Parish. All families are invited and welcomed.
Person of the Week - Week 2 - 17/10/2024
WESLEY PASTINA - FOUR WHITE - Wesley, just as St Peter was the rock upon which Jesus built His Church, you are a steadfast pillar of faith and TRUE values within our classroom and the wider school community. You have quickly proven yourself to be an exemplary student, whose humble leadership provides a solid foundation for others to model and build upon.
Jesus called St Peter to, "Feed my lambs... tend my sheep" (John 21:15-17), and in the same way, you care for and guide those around you. Wesley, your empathy shines in every interaction with your peers, as you quietly help those in need without seeking recognition or reward. You show profound respect for your teachers, making it clear that you value each lesson and express your gratitude through your active engagement in every classroom activity.
Wesley, your dedication to excellence serves as an inspiration to your peers, encouraging them to strive for their best. Like St Peter, your strength lies in your humble leadership, compassion, and care for others. As you journey through life, we look forward to seeing the Holy Spirit continue to work within you, helping you stay true to your path of love, compassion, and a humble leadership that already shines brightly in your heart.
Wesley, congratulations on this well-deserved honour, and we are proud to recognise you as our Senior Person of the Week.
JOSEPHINE TSELEPIS - FIVE WHITE - Josie, you are truly never anyone but your bubbly, kind and independent self. You have the kindest of hearts which you freely open up to everyone. With your heart, you always care for those who are in need, you show kindness towards everyone who crosses your path, you always help without ever being asked and you love your neighbours just as Jesus taught us to.
It does not matter who sits next to you, you always make them feel included and respected. You constantly demonstrate a growth mindset in your work and are always happy to give everything a go.
Josie, you are genuinely a fantastic example of someone who embodies all of St Peter’s TRUE Values. A famous Greek philosopher named, Aristotle, once said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
You have truly educated all our hearts in 5W this year by bringing a very special joy and light to our lives. Never ever change, because I know if you remain your awesome self, you will continue to bring happiness and blessings to all those who will be lucky enough to know you.
