Dear Steck Families,

Time is flying by - can't believe it's February! February is Heart Health Month and we're ready to show some LOVE. Thanks to Mrs. Treptow who helps us learn about the importance of good heart health. We are looking forward to our PTA Friendship party on Valentine's Day. Also during the month of February, Steck will celebrate Black History Month. This is an annual celebration of achievements of African Americans and a time for learning about their role in U.S. History. Each day we will learn something new through morning announcements and classes will engage in various activities. During the month of March, Steck will celebrate Women's History Month. This is an annual celebration of the vital role of women and we will learn about women in U.S. History. While we celebrate these accomplishments in February and March, we are focused on notable historic and current figures throughout the year. During February and March, ask your child what they learned about these incredible people in our world and how to take care of your heart.

Thank you to the Steck PTA for providing our upcoming Friendship Classroom Party on February 14. PTA will provide Oreo cookies as a snack. You can see the ingredient list and nutrition label here. If your child cannot have this snack, please let your child's teacher know by February 9.

Kane County Reading Program

Once again, Steck students will have an opportunity to participate in our Kane County Cougars Reading Program all set to begin on February 1, 2024. All Steck students who participate in the program will apply reading time toward earning a ticket to attend a Kane County Cougars baseball game. The game is scheduled for Friday, May 17 @ 6:30 PM, or Saturday, May 18 @ 6:30 PM. Please see attached link for a timeline of due dates.

PTA STEM Committee Needs Members and a Co-Chair

Steck's annual STEM night will be held on the evening of Wednesday, March 20th from 6- 8 pm and is in need of committee members! Do you love to come up with fun experiments? Join us in creating a fun family night for our students. Committee members will be responsible for helping to plan and run this fun event, and must be available to attend a few one hour meetings that will take place on weeknights in January & February. No science expertise is required, just a willing heart and a love of fun! The kids love this event but I can't do it alone. Please help!! Thank you! PTA Nominating Committee

We are looking for 3 PTA members to be a part of the nominating committee. The committee would need to post board positions, speak with current board members about their interest in staying on the board and/or switching positions and create the slate of nominations. The nominating committee chair would need to be able to attend PTA meetings on 4/25 (zoom) and 5/16 (zoom).
