Give n Get
A PEAK Strategy
What is it?
Give 'n Get is a strategy to help support the processing of content. In this strategy, students work alone and with other students to process information about a selected topic. Students utilize their textbooks, notes, and the Learning Support Stations to ensure that all the information they share is correct
Where can I find it?
You can find this strategy on page 327 in your Big PEAK Book! Be sure to read the Quick PEAK for an overview of how you can use this strategy in your classroom!
How do I use it?
Students fold a sheet of paper to form a "grid" of 8 (4 on each side), 12, or 16 spaces with the creases. They then:
* Write facts or info in the spaces using complete sentences.
* They then verify the info with their text, notes, or support stations
*Once students have 2-4 squares filled, the teacher calls time
*Students then take their papers and share their information with other students.
*They give and get facts as they share
*Students then return to their seats and teachers ask processing questions such as, What are the 3 to 5 most important facts?"
*Students then can write a summary statement encompassing all the information collected.
