Dixie Magnet Elementary

Good morning! I hope this message finds you well as we gear up for another exciting week here at Dixie Magnet Elementary! Last Wednesday was a fantastic evening as we came together for our Family Math and Bingo for Books Night. It was wonderful to see so many families joining us for a night of fun-filled activities. From dinner to playing math games and bingo, it was a joyous occasion where our community came together to learn and have fun. A big thank you to Ms. Warren, Ms. Gettis and all the families who participated and made the evening a great success!

On Friday, our houses gathered for a house meeting where we celebrated our students and fostered our sense of community through games and activities. It's always heartwarming to see the bonds forming between students across different grades and backgrounds.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting week planned. We're thrilled to announce that we will be hosting an Artist in Residence in our art class with Mr. Bright. This promises to be a creative and enriching experience for our students. In addition, we have some exciting field trips planned. Our kindergarteners will be visiting the Louisville Zoo for a day of exploration and discovery. Meanwhile, our 5th graders will be embarking on their annual extended field trip to Louisville on Thursday. And on Friday, our 2nd graders will be visiting the Horse Park for an educational outing.

Lastly, don't forget about our upcoming event, Breakfast with your Best Buddy! Students from Pre-K to 5th grade are invited to bring one FEMALE guest for breakfast (featuring donuts, water, and coffee) to bond before school. This event will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, so mark your calendars!

We look forward to a week of learning and growing together. Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to reach our full potential and to provide opportunities for our students to be a positive force in our changing world!

We have reopened nominations for our Site Based Decision Making council parent representative election for this year. We will be electing one representative to a two year term. We are preparing for the 2024-25 school year. We are asking that families complete the Family Input for Class Placement form that will help us when creating classes. All forms should be completed by May 12, 2024. We encourage all families in grades K-4 to complete, including those students who might not be returning, so that we have accurate information.
