Setting Up for Success
A Training for New Autistic & Life Skills Support Teachers
Please join the Allegheny Intermediate Unit's Training & Consultation Team for this IN PERSON Training.
This training will explore planning and design choices that special education teachers serving students with complex needs in specialized autistic support or life skills classroom should consider during classroom setup. Topics will include space planning, classroom layout, and use of visual supports for both schedule management and student independence with routines. Participants will be asked to consider their student's social emotional needs and sensory preferences in their design. In addition, we will discuss different ways to build relationships with students, support staff and families to ensure collaboration and maximize resources to ensure student success.
