Cedar Shoals High School Newsletter
for the week of December 10, 2018
A message from the principal
Greetings,
In these final weeks before winter break students will be taking the Reading Inventory and the Math Inventory in addition to summative assessments in their courses. Please encourage your Jaguar to do their very best! Also, continue to log-in to parent portal to check your student’s tardies, attendance, and grades. We have nine days left in this semester, so please encourage your Jag student to power through and do their best.
There are many opportunities to enjoy our talented and hardworking Jags this coming week: basketball games, winter chorus concert, winter band concert, and winter dance recital. Come support our Jags! As always, please let our administrative team know if you have any questions or concerns. Go Jags!

Celebrating Student Growth in Reading!!
Celebrate!!! 400 Cedar Shoals students have had high growth so far in reading this year!
Way to go AMAZING teachers and especially English Teachers!!!!
We plan to celebrate with our star reading students on Friday, December 14th and we still need help. We still need:
6 large cans of cocoa,
six bags of mini marshmallows, and
Cookies!
Since we have such a large number of students attending (great problem to have, right??!), we really need your support.
Please bring any donations to Ms. Hall in the front office, and please email hogank@clarke.k12.ga.us if you have any questions.

Prom Dues!
Prom dues are now being accepted. They are $40 for the month of December, and can be paid to Ms. Harvey in C 209 before or after school.
The next prom committee meeting will be Thursday, Dec. 13 at 3:45 in C 209.
For answers to many of your prom questions, please reference this document compiled by Ms. Harvey. If you have any questions not addressed there, please feel free to email her at harveya@clarke.k12.ga.us
International Potluck
Cedar Shoals' Interact club will be hosting their annual International Potluck on Wednesday, December 12th from 5:30 to 7:00 in the CSHS Cafeteria. We will also be collecting canned goods to donate to families in need. It would be our pleasure to have all the jags in our community join us, bring a dish to share, and celebrate the holidays with our community!
Canned Food Drive
We have a School-Wide Canned Food Drive going on now through Friday, December 14th. Donations benefit the Emergency Foodbank of Athens which helps hundreds of families each day that experience food shortage.
This is a project in which everyone can take part (faculty, staff, parents, and students). If you sponsor an after-school group or community service group, this would be a great opportunity for students to take part and earn credits.
Please deliver canned goods to the two bins in the front office. Thanks so much for your help and generosity!
