We are excited to welcome our families to Coosa for our Open House on Thursday, September 12 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Primarily, these information sessions are for parents. Students are welcome to attend, but not required. Some topics that will be discussed include:

1. Daily schedule and routines
2. Behavior expectations and incentives
3. Communication procedures between home and school
4. PowerSchool Capabilities
5. What you can expect your child to learn this year
6. Formative and Summative Assessments and how the data collected is used in the classroom.
7. How parents can help support their student

and more..

Please note the start times for sessions. These 25- minute sessions will begin and end promptly to allow parents with multiple children to attend more than one session. If you enter a session late, feel free to stay for the next informational session. Since these sessions are for all families, teachers will not be able to answer questions specific to your child. We will host parent conferences at the end of the first quarter, and families are always welcome to reach out to teachers at any point in the year.

* We have a few families with more than 2 children. We encourage families with more than 2 children to bring more than one adult in order to capture information. Please reach out, if needed.

Progress reports for students in grades 1-5 are being emailed to families today. If you do not receive your child's progress report, please reach out to Nichelle Tyson, our data specialist, to ensure we have your correct email on file. Kindergarten progress reports were sent home in students' folders today. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions about the progress report. Please keep in mind, that PowerSchool is open to all families to check their child's grades at any time.

Last year, Sea Island Rotary sponsored the EarlyAct Club at Coosa. Students from Beaufort High School and Mrs. Turner led the club consisting of students in grades 3-5. This group follows the Rotary's Core Beliefs of service, fellowship, diversity, integrity, and leadership. One of the projects completed by the EarlyAct students was the creation of short stories based on these core beliefs. The book below can be found in our school library as well as the Beaufort County Library downtown. We are very proud of these published authors. Be sure to check out the display when you are here for Open House and see if you can find any familiar people you know at Coosa!
