Hello Lester Families,

It has been good to be back together after our Thanksgiving break. We are excited about our upcoming 12 Days of December Spirit days and all of the fun we will be having throughout the building over the next couple of weeks. Next Friday, students will participate in a 30 minute PE time where they will join two other classes for "Winter Wiggle". Mrs. C has planned several fun winter themed movement activities for students to participate in. This will be a wonderful opportunity for team & community building within our school.

In this newsletter, you will also find information about our Student Council fundraiser, "The Giving Tree". Thank you in advance for participating in this fundraiser.

As a reminder, students will be going outside for recess when the temperature and feels like temperatures are above 0. Please be sure that your child is dressed warmly and appropriately for the weather. If you need resources for items, please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher so that we can provide that support.

If winter weather requires schools to close, District 58 will promptly email and call all families and staff. The District will also post school closure information on the website, www.dg58.org, and social media channels.

District 58 has the option to use an e-learning day or an emergency day (also called snow day) during bad weather.

This year, District 58 will likely use e-learning days. E-learning days do not need to be made up at the end of the school year. District 58 needs to maximize the summer for referendum construction, so e-learning days would allow District 58 to keep on its construction schedule.

We are so excited to bring back The Lester Variety Show for the third year!

This year the show will be held January 26, 2025 at Downers Grove North High School at 4:00pm.

We are also looking for 4-6 outgoing 6th graders to Emcee the show!
