As we prepare for the last day of school on Thursday, we'll be making a change to our student check out procedures. On Thursday, May 26 students cannot be checked out after 12:00pm. Please plan to check out your student before 12:00pm or plan to have them at school until our 4:05 dismissal. Thank you for planning ahead on our last day of school!

We are looking for a certified Special Education Teacher (Interrelated Resource) for next school year. The ideal candidate can teach mathematics and other core subject areas. Middle school experience is preferred but not necessary. This could be a good opportunity for an elementary school teacher who is looking to move into middle school. And particularly a GREAT middle school like ours!

We are also looking for a Special Education Instructional Paraprofessional to working with our MIMO team. Our MIMO team is comprised of three classrooms and serves students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities. We have three classroom teachers and four instructional paraprofessionals on this team.

Tuesday, May 24 is a Remote Learning Day for all NMS students. Since students have turned in their school issued device, there will be no graded class work assigned on the Remote Learning Day. Teachers will communicate any whole class or individual expectations for student through Microsoft Teams. Please reach out to your teachers if you have any questions.

Should you require technical assistance with Remote Learning, call the Information Technology Service Desk: 470-254-HELP.

As the school year winds down, we request that you plan to pick up any medication or supplies your child may have in the Clinic. All medications (prescription and over-the-counter), must be picked up by May 26th. Any medications not picked up by May 26th will be discarded as we cannot keep medications over the summer.

In the event your child requires medications for next school year, please remember to fill out a Medication Authorization Form. Provide the Medication Authorization Form and medication to the Clinic when school begins in August.

Please Note: All Prescription Medications MUST have a Doctor’s signature in order for the Clinic Staff to administer the medication. All medications MUST be in an original labeled container with a current expiration date.

Please notify the clinic if your child is planning to attend summer school and will require medication or has healthcare needs such as diabetes, asthma, seizures, allergies. Medication forms and/or health care plans are required during summer school.

More information will be shared with NMS families before August.

Parents/guardians have the ability to "turn off" attendance notifications in their Parent Portal. Click on the Silhouette on the top right and select Settings. Unclick the box for the Attendance emails.

The Curriculum Hub provides a variety of resources to assist parents in supporting their student's learning in the areas of English Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies including:

• A year-at-a-glance for each course with the standards taught in each unit
• Unit plans detailing the specific learning targets to be mastered
• Parent resources to preview or review concepts and skills taught in each unit

Breakfast/Lunch Fees. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has waived fees so all students will continue to receive meals at no charge for the 2021-22 school year, allowing school nutrition professionals to focus on nourishing children for success.

Our School Governance Council has discussed the need to do more as a school community to better understand our student's use of social media and cell phones, and provide education for students and families around this issue. This school year, our students will engage in more discussions with staff around safe and responsible use of cell phones.

Representatives from Bark presented at one of our previous PTO meetings. As a company, Bark provides monitoring service and resources for families. I will be sharing information from Bark and other sources weekly in our newsletter.

Registration is open for the Milton Summer Softball Camp! The camp will be for rising 1st – 8th graders on June 13-16th, 2022. Rising 1st – 4th will meet from 9am-12pm. Rising 5th - 8th graders will meet from 1pm – 4pm. Activities will include drills for stretching, throwing, fielding, hitting, base running and other fun games!
