Michael Biesenthal Honored as Commended National Merit Scholarship Recipient
Michael Biesenthal recieved a Letter of Commendation for outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 2023. In the Spring of 2024, he was identified as one of 50,000 highest scorers in the nation and is one of 34,000 that has been recognized as a Commended Student. Congratulations Michael!
5 NBHS Students Receive Illinois State Scholar Awards!
5 New Berlin High School Students were recognized at the October Board of Education Meeting for being name Illinois State Scholars. Congratulations to Braiden Matthiesen, Griffin Fuchs, Kendall Sims, Savannah Kramer, and Michael Bisenthal. Our Band Rocks!!!
The 24.25 NBHS Marching Band Season came to a close last Saturday, and it ended with a bang! At the Metamora Competition on Saturday, we won Best Winds and Best General Effect in 2A and Won 1st Overall in 2A. Which means we’ve finished out our seasons with all 1sts!
At the Morton Competition on Saturday, October 5th, we won 1st Place in 1A and Best Winds in 1A, and at the Pittsfield Parade in August, we got a 1st Place with a 94/100 Best Drum Major!

SADD Announces Red Ribbon Week!
The NBHS SADD Organization will host our annual Red Ribbon Week beginning October 21st .

NBHS Pretzels with a Purpose (Click to view the album) - On the Morning of October 11th, we ran our Pretzels with a Purpose Program. Students participated in 4 different activities, featuring a College and Career Readiness session, a Social/Emotional Mental Health First Aid Session, a Postive/Healthy Relationship Building Session, and a session on Major Clarity, our college and career planning platform.
NBHS Fall PBIS Celebration (click to view the album) - On October 11th, we had our Fall PBIS Celebration to highlight what a great first quarter this has been! Students participated in a variety of activities: Jumbo Scrabble, Smash Brother's Tourney, Crafting Room, Chill Room, Movies, Indoor/Outdoor Recreational Activities, and Karaoke! It has been a great first quarter and we are looking forward to even more accomplishments during second quarter!

FCCLA Ignite Conference
The 2024/25 FCCLA officers attended the Ignite Conference in Springfield on Sunday and Monday. We listened to a great Keynote speaker on Leadership and Technology, participated in several breakout sessions, and had time to plan our chapter's year of FCCLA. We are coming back charged and ready for a great year of FCCLA! See pictures below.

Spanish Class and Club Activities for the Month of October
Seniorita Kennedy's Spanish Club had quite a fiesta yesterday to celebrate the end of Hispanic Heritage Month. We had tacos from Cuatro Amigos, drinks and cookies, listened to music in Spanish and smashed a piñata full of candy.
