Hello Quantum Families,


This is another busy and fun week at Quantum! We have our ELOP, Band, and iGrow classes starting this week and a 6th-8th grade PTA Movie Night on Thursday. Save the Date for Conferences Thursday, October 10th and Friday, October 11th. On these days there is no school for students so teachers can be available to conference with families and discuss student progress. Information on Conferences will be coming out next week via Rooms and we encourage all families to sign up for a Conference with teachers. Please check Rooms daily for updates on your child’s specific grade level and class.


I'm looking forward to seeing families our our first Create with the Principal(pdf) event on Wednesday, Sept 18th at 8:30. We are taking our inspiration from Hispanic Heritage Month and making sarapes! This is a time for us to be creative together and give feedback to the school. Hope to see you there!

iGrow

iGrow starts on Monday, September 16th. iGrow is 4 times a week for 40 minutes and is designed to help students meet their specific needs in academics and our QA values. These are intervention or digging deeper opportunities. Students are placed in these classes based on data and teacher recommendations. We are looking forward to the continued success this structure provides our Quarks.

Band

Band starts on Tuesday, Sept 17th. If you filled out a band application, your student(s) can go to Band where they will learn more information from Ms. Nimela and Mr. Johnson our band teachers. They will also hear about instrument checkout availability or rental information. Students do not need to bring instruments to band yet.


ELOP Classes

Classes start this week and our classes are full! Please refer to information emailed to you from Ms. Miramontes, our ELOP coordinator, for specifics on classes. Quarks should head to the lunch tables after school to meet their class. Students will need to be picked-up promptly at 4pm when classes end unless they are returning to the YMCA program.

Policies

Our parent packet contained so much information for the year! We’ll be sending the PDF of the parent packet in a separate email so you have that on file when you need it. We are asking all families to review and sign the policies page with their Quark(s) and return it to their Homeroom teacher. Ask your Homeroom teacher if you need another copy sent home with your Quark. Having family support is critical for student success and we appreciate your help!

6-8 Movie Night - Thursday September 19th from 12:45-2:45

It’s our first PTA movie night of the year and the movie is Coraline! Students received a permission slip today in backpacks. Quarks need to have a signed permission slip in order to attend. Up to 4 Quark Leader Cards can be used in lieu of cash. PTA is selling vouchers for snacks, candy, and drinks. $4 will get you a drink and 1 item. $5 will get you a drink, a candy, and a bag of chips. If you are able to help chaperone this event, please contact Dessy Flores deflores@eusd.org
