Saftey Patrols @ OLG
We are so excited to announce the creation of Student Saftey Patrols at Our Lady of Grace Catholic School. Our 5th and 4th graders have been amazing leaders on campus from assiting at dismisal, putting up our flags and other leadership opportunities. We are now going to extend this to our 3rd graders. All students interested will need to apply for one of the 20 spots available. Applications are coming out this month, students will also need a teacher/staff recommendation. Our sponsors for Saftey Patrols are Officer Ruple and Coach Lopez. Materials have been ordered and the selection will occur before Thanksgiving break.
PK-2nd grade Robotics Club Coming this Spring
It gives me great pride to announce that our Mrs. Fernandez has volunteered to sponsor our first Little Angel Robotic's Club. She specifically wants for it to be for our younger children. More details will be forth coming. Applications will be out before the holiday break, it will require a teacher recommendation. We will have limited spots available, and as the team builds we may be adding more team members.
3-5th grade Chess Club Coming this Spring
Are you a grandmaster at Chess? Mr. Mainez will be taking applications soon for our very limited team of chess players. Here’s what you can expect:
1. Skill Development: We offer guided instruction that focuses on the fundamentals of chess, strategies, and critical thinking skills. Our experienced coach use's fun and engaging methods to help children improve their game.
2. Social Interaction: Chess is not just about competition; it’s also a wonderful way for children to bond with peers. Our club fosters a friendly atmosphere where kids can make new friends, learn the value of sportsmanship, and collaborate with others as they navigate the complexities of the game.
3. Competitions: We host or attend a few tournaments and friendly matches, allowing children to apply what they've learned in a supportive setting. These events encourage healthy competition and help build confidence, focus, and resilience.
4. Cognitive Skills: Chess is an excellent tool for enhancing critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. As children learn to anticipate their opponent's moves and plan their strategies, they develop patience and foresight, which can translate to improved performance in academics.
5. Lifelong Learning: Chess is a game for all ages. By participating in our club, your child will not only learn how to play chess but also gain a deeper appreciation for the game, sparking an interest that can last a lifetime.
6. Fun and Engaging Environment: Our club is designed to be fun! Alongside learning the game, we incorporate interactive activities, puzzles, and occasional themed events to keep the atmosphere lively and engaging.
