LEAD Picnic
As a final activity for this year’s Grade 5 LEAD program, the LEAD officers and the 5th grade teachers accompanied the students to Stone Point Park for a class picnic. Games and contests were provided, along with a pizza lunch and ice cream! The students seemed to enjoy the day and got to learn a lot about the OT Police.
Thank you to Mr. Bambach, Mrs. Bambach, Ms. Fischer, Mrs. Lauriello, Ms. Osbahr, Mrs. Park, Mrs. Reiser, and the OT Police for providing this fun-filled day for the Grade 5 students.
Grade 8 Social Studies: Decades Project
The 8th grade final project consisted of a trip to the past. The "Decades Project" allowed for each group to explore a specific decade that was not covered in class. Through this project, the students explored the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. They learned about historical events during these time periods as well as pop culture, famous people, fashion trends, and much more.
A requirement of the project was for the students to dress up as something (fashion trend, famous person, character from a movie etc..) from their decade. Overall, the student objective was to summarize the decade, present important information to their peers, and understand the important aspects that have got us to where we are today.
OTEA Photo Contest Winners
This year, the Old Tappan Environmental Commission continued the annual Digital Photo Contest for all Grade 5-8 students. The task was for students to capture the environment: air, water, land, wildlife, ecosystems, etc. around the Old Tappan community. The winners were awarded on Monday. Please see the participants and winners below.
