Principal Message
Dear Hillside Elementary Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Amy Isackson, and I am honored to step in as the interim principal at Hillside Elementary for the remainder of the school year. I know transitions can bring change, uncertainty, questions, but my goal is to support our students, staff, and families while maintaining the positive momentum already in place.
A little about me—I have had the privilege of serving as the principal at Shady Cove School for the past 11 years. I have been in the Eagle Point School District for 20 years and in education for 25 years. My husband, Kris, and I live in Eagle Point with our two children, Ian, a senior, and Ava, a freshman at EPHS. Education is both my profession and my passion, and I am excited to begin this new chapter with the Hillside community.
My first few weeks in this position have been fabulous and I have met a few of you. I am looking forward to getting to know more of our students, staff, and families. My priority is to listen, learn, and ensure that every student continues to thrive. I hope to connect with many of you soon, and a great opportunity to do so is at our upcoming Literacy Night on Wednesday, March 5. I encourage you to attend and join in celebrating our students’ learning.
Thank you for your partnership and dedication to our school community. I’m excited for the months ahead and look forward to working together!
Best,
Amy Isackson

Student Behaviors
At Hillside Elementary, our priority is creating a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment where all students can thrive. To maintain this standard, it is essential that our scholars consistently follow school expectations.
Disruptive behaviors, including but not limited to defiance, disrespect, and physical aggression, will not be tolerated. School rules will be enforced, and our discipline matrix will be followed. Students on behavior contracts are expected to demonstrate immediate improvement. Those who repeatedly defy the school rules and break their contract will be recommended for alternative placement and/or expulsion. If a student is on an intra-district transfer from another school their transfer will be revoked and the student will be sent back to their home school per board policy.
We value our partnership with families and appreciate your support in reinforcing these expectations. Together, we can ensure that our school remains a positive and productive space for all students.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to our shared goals.
March Character Trait
This month we are having conversations and experiences with our scholars to help us develop the social-emotional skill of Cooperation! We are using this definition at school:
Cooperation: working together to reach shared goals.
As a family, talk about how this definition applies to how you work together at home. What are some goals you share? Cooperation is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
Here are some questions you may want to ask and talk with your child at home to connect what we are doing at school. These are great conversations to have around the dinner table.
- Can you share or show what Cooperation means?
- Why do you think it is important to use Whole Body Listening when practicing Cooperation?
- Why do you think it is important to show Kindness and practice Cooperation?
- Can you name some things you do at school that require Cooperating? At home?
- How does perspective-taking help us when Cooperating with others?
- How do you think practicing conflict resolution helps us be more Cooperative?
- In a leadership role, why do you think showing Kindness and Cooperation are so important?
