Dear Voyager Families,

As we reach the last weeks of summer recess, I know many of you are thinking about the start of the school year. On behalf of Fr. Cannon, Mrs. Bianchi, and the entire faculty and staff, I welcome you all back to SFX! This year promises to be full of new opportunities for learning, growth, and service. We will continue to integrate our faith into daily activities through prayer, Mass, and service projects. Our goal is to support your child academically, spiritually, and socially, creating a well-rounded environment where they will thrive.

We have made exciting upgrades over the summer months. Each classroom is now equipped with an interactive presentation smartboard. The 8th Grade classrooms are piloting the newest smartboard technology, installed over the summer. Our Wi-Fi has been upgraded and enhanced, increasing bandwidth, accessibility, and speed. A security grant enabled us to upgrade door access security at the school. Our school has also been deep-cleaned, and we look forward to the students keeping it in tip-top shape! Father Cannon and I are pleased to announce the return of a Saint Francis Xavier graduate to the halls of our school! Mr. Nicolas Tardanico (Class of 2016) will join us as a Grade 5 and Grade 6 teacher. We look forward to his return! See below in Academics for Nic's bio.

There are two requirements that must be completed to be a volunteer at Saint Francis Xavier School.

1. CORI - Any parent/guardian who would like to volunteer at SHS or SFX must complete a 2024/2025 CORI Form. Mrs. Walsh will have CORI Forms available at Back to School Night on September 11th at 6 p.m.
2. VIRTUS Protecting God's Children Training - This is a required course in order to volunteer, but only needs to be completed once. Upon completion of the program, you will receive a certificate to submit to our administration prior to volunteering at an event. Note: Please create an account and select the "Archdiocese of Boston" first in order to access the training at SFX.

New Teacher Appointment:

Mr. Nicolas Tardanico is joining SFX as our new 5th/6th grade teacher! He graduated from SFX in 2016. He went on to Archbishop Williams High School followed by Springfield College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in History and Education. He is active in community athletics as a basketball and football coach at Elite Football Academy (grades 3-12). He has also worked as Assistant Harbormaster in Scituate. Welcome back Mr. Tardanico!

Technology Class Announcement:

We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Bianchi, our Assistant Principal, will be heading up and teaching our new Technology curriculum. Each student has been scheduled into a weekly technology class which will take place in our recently updated Sr. Teresa Technology Lab. We are committed to ensuring that every student learns to touch type, use computers and software skillfully, is adept in troubleshooting, understands basic operations, and can navigate digital environments. This will empower students with critical thinking and problem solving skills, a STEM foundation, and more!

Teacher Return to Email Communication:

Teachers return to school and will have access to emails beginning on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Per the Family Handbook, teachers have access to their emails Monday-Friday during the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.. In general please allow for 48 hours for a response.
