Important Links for Parents:
The above link provides simple and straight forward social emotional suggestions for parents. It's an easy read with practical advice for connecting with your teen.
Did you know... we have social emotional support staff on site at WBMS?
Ms. Rita Yousif has an office on site and meets with our students to support their growth and development. Ms. Yousif is working throughout the summer months and is available for parents & students to reach out.
Please email for more information/resources to support your family and teen: rita.yousif@wbsd.org
Once we return to school, students are also able to connect with their grade level counselor, our school social workers and school psychologist.
We have a mindfullness club sponsored by Ms. Candace Hudson-Jackson.
New this year...we will be offering YOGA sessions afterschool. We will have mentorship groups for both boys and girls. We are also offering an afterschool group "Girls Empowered". Kids In Charge lessons will be taught once each quarter.
More information about these opportunities will be provided at our back to school orientation sessions.
We work closely with the Greater West Bloomfileld Community Coalition to provide resources & programs for our families.
Follow the Coalition onFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/GreaterWestBloomfieldCommunityCoalition
All WBMS staff are here to support our students and families. We're in this together. Please reach out to Mrs. Carson if you have ideas for additional programming.
Strengthen Your Skills this Summer...
Students have FREE access to Imagine Math as a learning tool.
We recommend starting the NWEA sections first since they are aligned to each individual student's mathematical skills. Each pathway includes multiple topics that walk students through a preview, warm up game, warm up, guided learning, practice and post quiz. All sections include additional tools such as teacher support, calculators, a glossary, formulas and more.
To log on, students go to clever.com , use their Google Credentials to login and click the imagine math logo.

WBSD Athletic Participation Fee Reinstated
1. Athletic Participation Fee Reinstated
For those students participating in athletics:
To maintain the scope of programs WBSD provides, allowing students to have a wide variety of opportunities for involvement in activities beyond the school day, it has become necessary to reinstate a fee for those wishing to participate in athletics.
Student-athletes in school-sponsored sports will be required to pay a one-time yearly fee based on the fee structure below. Students can participate in multiple athletic opportunities with this fee.
High School Level:
Regular Rate $325
Free/Reduced Lunch Rate $160*
Middle School Level:
Regular Rate $225
Free/Reduced Lunch Rate $110*
A family cap of $800, still applies for all athletes in the family, including both Middle School and High School Levels. It is a “true” family cap. *The free/reduced lunch rate is for those who have filed approved paperwork with the Nutrition Office for Free/Reduced Lunch.
Students must still provide an updated sports physical. Students participating in self-funded sports (equestrian, field hockey, figure skating, gymnastics, snowboarding, sailing, lacrosse) will pay their fees independently of the fee above.
Important: Please be aware that the fee does not guarantee playing time, only the opportunity to be on the team if selected. Payment will be made upon completion of the Final Forms registration for all teams that are "no cut" sports. Fall no-cut sports include cross country, football, and girls swim. Payments for sports with cuts should not be made until the student has been selected for the team. Please contact the athletic director, Eric Pierce, with any questions. He can be reached at eric.pierce@wbsd.org or 248.865.6743.
