A tremendous round of applause to our fantastic fifth graders! You've officially reached the exciting milestone of completing elementary school and are now on your way to conquering middle school.
We are incredibly proud of everything you've accomplished these past years. From mastering multiplication tables to conducting groundbreaking science experiments, your dedication to learning and your boundless curiosity have been truly inspiring.
But beyond academics, you've also grown into caring and responsible young individuals. Your laughter has filled our hallways, your kindness has brightened our classrooms, and your spirit of teamwork has been a joy to witness.
While we'll certainly miss your presence in elementary school, we know you're more than prepared for the challenges and opportunities that await you in middle school. Remember, all the knowledge and skills you've acquired here will serve you well on your journey ahead.

5th Grade Carnival Parent Volunteers Needed!
PTA's 5th Grade Celebration Committee is in need of the help of volunteers of our K-4th grade students on Tuesday, May 21st.
While our 5th grade parents are celebrating the completion of elementary school with their student, we are in need of parents to help with set up, clean up, running activities, and food stations. Please consider signing up at this linked Sign Up Genius to help make this a memorable event.

Ice Cream will be on sale during the last week of school.
Mark your calendars! Ice cream sales will continue through lunch during the last three days of school. We'll be scooping up delicious treats until our supply runs out, so be sure to send your child with some cash to join the fun!
Looking for a way to celebrate summer birthdays in class? Parents can send in money for their child's teacher to purchase ice cream for a special birthday treat during the last week.

Colts to Broncos: One Last Walk Through Brookwood!
Attention Brookwood High School graduates of 2024 who called Brookwood Elementary their stomping grounds! Join us for the heartwarming Colt to Bronco Walk on Monday, May 20th at 1:30 pm.
This is your chance, as graduating seniors, to take a nostalgic walk through the halls of Brookwood Elementary one last time. Relive those cherished memories and say goodbye to the teachers and environment that nurtured you during your elementary school years.
Gather in the Media Center by 1:15 pm before embarking on this sentimental journey.

Parent Involvement Survey
Parents of students with an Individual Education Program (IEP) please complete the Parent Involvement Survey by May 31, 2024. This survey from the Georgia Department of Education will help guide local schools’ efforts to improve Special Education services and results for children and families.

End of the Year Medication Pick Up Reminder
A friendly reminder that all medication currently stored in the school clinic must be picked up by an adult by the last day of school. Due to Gwinnett County Public School regulations, we are unable to store any medications over the summer break.
Please make arrangements to pick up your child's medication before the clinic closes on May 22nd. Unclaimed medications will be disposed of after this date.

Before you know it, it'll be time for a fresh start in the new school year! To ensure a smooth transition back to school and avoid the last-minute rush, we encourage parents to order their child's school supplies now.
By ordering early, you can:
- Avoid the last-minute rush: Beat the summer crowds and ensure you get everything on the teacher's list.
- Guarantee availability: Limited quantities are available for some supplies.
- Set your child up for success: Having all the requested materials on the first day can boost confidence and learning.
Place your order by July 1st at the 1st Day School Supplies website. Your child's school supply kit will be delivered to Brookwood Elementary School in time for back to school.

Brookwood Elementary School Summer Hours
Beginning May 30th through July 22nd, Brookwood Elementary School's Front Office will open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.
The Registration Office is open Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. Please call the school at 770-736-4360 to make an appointment to complete registration.
Brookwood Elementary will be closed during summer on the following dates:
- Monday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth
- July 3rd - 7th in observance of Independence Day
- Friday, July 14 - Gwinnett County Public Schools holiday
Get ready for the Brookwood Elementary Summer Reading Challenge!
The Summer Reading Challenge is back, and it's time to get your reading on! Here's how to join the fun:
- Read books and complete a bingo board by logging your minutes on the Beanstack website and doing 4 fun activities!
- Grades K-2: Read 180 minutes to conquer your bingo board.
- Grades 3-5: Gear up for 360 minutes of reading adventures!
- Everyone who completes the bingo board gets a FREE book from the GCPS Bookmobile in the Fall!
The challenge runs from May 23rd to July 31st. Let's make it a summer of reading adventures!
Calling all future Brookwood Colts!
Brookwood Elementary is thrilled to welcome our newest kindergarteners for the 2024-2025 school year! Registration is now open at the Brookwood Elementary website.
- Who: This registration is for parents or guardians of children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2024.
- What: Register your child for the 2024-2025 school year in our easy, two-step online process.
- Why: Completing online registration helps us prepare to welcome your new kindergartner and ensures they're eligible for exciting summer enrichment activities.
- How: Most of the registration process, including uploading required documents, will be done conveniently online. Many file types (PDF, JPG, DOC, PNG) are accepted with a 2 MB limit.

Cafeteria and Lunch Reminders
Student breakfasts are $1.50. Student lunches are $2.25 plus $.40 for extra milk. Adult lunches are $4.00. Families are encouraged to set up meal accounts for their student in MyPaymentsPlus. You can pay for your student’s lunch on MyPaymentsPlus using his/her student number.
Free or reduced price lunches will be provided for those students whose families meet Federal guidelines. If parents wish to apply for free or reduced price lunches, forms are available online on the GCPS website. Forms must be completed and resubmitted each year for approval and are available beginning in July for the next school year.
Food/snack/drink deliveries are not allowed for students at school. Students must bring a lunchbox from home or enjoy the school lunch.
Available menu items are subject to change based on current inventory and deliveries.

All money collected from boxtops goes directly to buy PE equipment for Brookwood Elementary. There is a new system starting this year where you download the FREE Boxtops for Education App and scan your receipt. The boxtops will automatically upload to our school's account. Attention 5th graders destined for Five Forks Middle School next year!
This summer the Five Forks Media Center invites you to borrow up to five books of your choice. All participating students in the Take 5 Books for Summer Reading Initiative will receive an invitation to a Back-to-School Reading Celebration at the start of the next school year. Additionally, participants will be automatically entered into a drawing for a chance to win prizes such as Starbucks and Barnes & Noble gift cards, among others. May Events at the Five Forks Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library
The Five Forks Branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library has released their calendar of kids programming for the month of May. Check out their program highlight, Resilient Animals - Amazing Adaptations!, on Thursday, May 16th at 6:00 pm. When the world seems tough, sometimes the best thing you can do is change! Students will learn all about how different animals adapt to their environments, and take home a fun craft!
Other events for the month of May include Calming Butterflies, Dealing with Big Feelings, and Little Naturalist - Dynamite Dinosaurs. Learn about these events and more at the Gwinnett County Public Library website.

Jr Broncos Cheer Clinic
Join the 2024 Jr Broncos Competition Squad for Cheer Clinic for rising Kindergarten - 5th grade students on June 14th. Cost is $40 per student for the 3 hour clinic with instruction in cheering, dancing, jumping plus fun, games, and much more. Registration is 4:30 pm at the door.

Brookwood Softball Camp will be held for rising kindergarten through rising eighth grade June 10-13 from 9am-12pm for . Cost is $150 and registration is available on MyPaymentsPlus.
Broncos Baseball Camp
Brookwood High School Baseball Camp will take place June 11-13 from 9am-1pm. This annual camp blends baseball fundamentals and fun with our Brookwood Broncos players and coaches!
