GISH GLIMPSE
November 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Warrior Families,
I hope this message finds you well and in good health. We continue to roll along through the seasonal markers of the school year. With September and October in the rearview mirror we look forward to November and the slow crawl into winter.
I would like to highlight and mention the hard work of our amazing teachers. Their dedication to our students amazes me daily. Specifically, I appreciate their consistent presence in the classroom. Our world is ever changing, dynamic, and at times, difficult to comprehend. Their endurance brings comfort, and through comfort, students can approach the days with a higher level of functioning.
I recognize that school is not a ‘perfect’ place for everyone, and I would like to take this opportunity, as we progress through the year, to remind you that we are here to work together with you if you or your child are facing challenges. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time.
We look forward to our upcoming Remembrance Day ceremonies and the excitement that November brings to our building! Stay warm everyone!
Respectfully,
Derek Harrison

Dallas Arcand Performance
Our Truth and Reconciliation performance brought in $202.35 in donations that will be sent to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society https://www.irsss.ca/about. Thank you again to the GPA for facilitating this performance.
Rake and Run
We understand that living near the school can be difficult at times with heavier traffic and activity. We try to give back to our community a few times a year - Rake and Run is one random act of kindness we do annually. Houses that border our school and those on Akins Drive are selected. Teachers then sign up for a group of 3 to 4 houses to take their students to go and rake up the leaves. This is a small and fun way that we can show our appreciation to the community. Many hands make for light work!
9 Hagg & FD Kinder Cook get creative

Each division came out to the large soccer field and worked as a class to roll their pumpkin from one end of the field to the other. There was lots of movement, smiling and cheering! We look forward to making this a new Warriors tradition!!

Farm-to-Table Fundraiser
Wow Gish Family! We're proud to announce that the school community donated 255 pounds of vegetables for our school families through the Farm-to-Table fundraiser. This amazing contribution is a true reflection of the compassion that exists within our school community. Furthermore, the fundraiser raised the school $877.50! Thank you for your continued support.
Fall Ball and Silent Auction
Our annual Fall Ball & Silent Auction sure was a fun-filled night. Congratulations to the winners of the amazing auction items. Thank you very much to all the families that attended, the volunteers who made it come together, and the generous sponsors. We can't wait to do it again next year!
Compassion Committee
The Gish Compassion Committee provides support to families at Gish who are facing difficult or unexpected life circumstances. The need for this fund is always growing. Any family can contact the school admin to ask for support. This is a completely confidential process. The Compassion Committee does not know the name of the family; they only receive the age/grade of the children and what the family might need. Please email Sue Werner if your family could use some extra support any time through the year.
Volunteers
There are a lot of ways to get involved at Gish! The GPA works tirelessly through the year to fundraise and foster community. We have made signing up for GPA volunteer opportunities a super easy process! If you are interested in volunteering for the Gish Parent's Association please email esgpavolunteers@gmail.com or join us for our monthly meetings. ALL ARE WELCOME!
Thank you GPA Volunteers
Each week a team of lovely parents comes in to organize our Hot Lunch program. Without them we would not be able to have such a smooth and successful program. Thank you for all that you do, we really appreciate it!
