We are RAMS (more than our mascot)
R-Respect self and others A-Achieve excellence M-Make good choices S-Stay safe
The R.A.M.S. program was established more than ten years ago and has evolved over time. As a positive behavioral interventions and support system, R.A.M.S. is infused into all aspects of Lincoln's school culture. Any staff member can recognize a student or class for exhibiting R.A.M.S. behaviors.
Our students have been exceeding our expectations within the first month of school! We have seen many students earning R.A.M.S. stickers for their excellent behavior. When a student earns a "RAM" they also have their name entered into a raffle. At the end of the month, one student will be selected from each class, in addition to as a class winner. The class winner will display the trophy in their classroom for the entire month, in addition to earning a class prize. All winners for the month will participate in a school-wide parade. A great discussion to have with your child is about the choices they can make in school and at home to demonstrate RAMS.

2nd Grade Hosts Mock Presidential Election
Students in grades K -3 had the opportunity today to vote in a mock Presidential election. These mock elections provided students with a hands on experience to learn the nuances of an election and to help understand the process of voting. 2nd grade hosted, and these students served as “poll workers” in order to expand upon their civics curriculum. Students will tally the results and apply what they are learning in math to further this lesson into an interdisciplinary learning experience.
Camp Read a Lot
We welcomed 50 children to our first Family Literacy Night on October 24th. Families enjoyed literacy-based activities, crafts, and fun! Mrs. Marsh (Reading Specialist), Mrs. Thomas (Librarian), and Mrs. Skomial (Principal) planned out an evening focused on exposing families to literacy strategies while also engaging children in the world of reading. We welcomed our Rockaway Borough Library, Ms. Okerblom, as well as future educators from Morris County School of Technology's Academy for Education and Learning to partake in the event. Books were donated by Bridge of Books, a nonprofit that supplies new/gently used books to schools. We look forward to creating more family-friendly events in the future!
We Kept a Little Secret from the Kiddos Last Week...
A social media trend inspired us to try out an Underground Staff Spirit Week. Each day last week, staff members took part in some silly attire: backwards shirts, mismatched shoes, and holiday apparel. It was a great morale booster! Even funnier, most of the children never noticed 😂.
Library Media Specialist
Did you know that Mrs. Thomas, Lincoln's Librarian, has many amazing resources on her website? Check it all out here.
From Our School Counselor, Mrs. Rigas:
We have begun to identify our Kindness Ambassadors. This group of students has been chosen because they are role-models in the classroom and they have shown their kind and helpful character in and outside of the classroom.
Our Kindness Ambassadors will meet during the school day to discuss ways in which we can help our school and community. Your child’s input and ideas are a valued addition in our process to continue to make our school a positive and safe place for everyone!

In Lunch Bunch, students will work on social skills and discuss topics such as making and keeping friends, bullying prevention, teamwork, and positive school behaviors, while playing games and doing other fun activities. This group will be limited to 10 students per grade, per session (once per week during their lunch period, for six weeks). Some students may have to wait for the next session to attend. Permission slips will be going home soon.
From Our School Nurse, Mrs. Jacobus:
If your child is seen by a doctor and has a diagnosis, it is helpful to communicate this with Mrs. Jacobus. Doing so will help her to be able to track trends and inform parents, when necessary. Thank you for keeping your children at home when they are ill. 🤒
