Stevenson High School
December 13, 2024
Principal's Note:
Dear Spartans
Next week is our final week of classes prior to Winter Break. This is a full week of classes. CSA’s will take place on Thursday, December 19th and Friday, December 20th.
These are half days of school with dismissal at 10:35 am. Please plan to pick up your student(s) at this earlier time.
Thursday, December 19th - Periods 1-3
Friday, December 20th - Periods 4-6
CSA’s account for 10% of a student’s marking period grade. Each marking period represents 50% of the semester grade. The semester grade is what will go on a student’s transcript.
There are no classes from December 23rd through January 3rd. Students will return to class on Monday, January 6th. The last day of the first semester is Thursday, January 9th.
If your student(s) is going to be absent during CSA’s, the make-up date will be Monday, January 6th, which is the first day returning from Winter Break. Failure to complete the CSA may result in a zero.
Second semester schedules will be released Wednesday, January 8th.
All the best –
Pete Mazzoni

The 2024-25 FAFSA is Now Open!
💲 FAFSA = Free Application for Federal Student Aid 💲
This year the FAFSA will be available to begin applying on December 1st, 2024. Current seniors and their parent or guardian will complete the 2025-26 FAFSA to be considered for Financial Aid for the 25-26 school year.
Along with the launch in December of a shorter & simpler Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form to request financial help for the 2025-26 year, the Michigan Student Scholarship & Grant (MiSSG) department will be providing financial aid & resources to the Class of 2025 & their caregivers. Sign up for one of the virtual presentations below to get information on how to take advantage of the Michigan Achievement Scholarship & Community College Guarantee!
In order to help our families maximize the amount of money awarded from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), LPS is hosting a FAFSA workshop for seniors on three different dates. The workshop is designed for you and your child to be able to begin (or continue), complete, and submit the FAFSA during the Workshop. In order to make sure we can provide the necessary assistance; we are requiring parents/students to sign up. If you are interested in attending the Workshop, please click on the link below and complete the sign up for the date and time that works for you.

SHS ABSENCE PROCEDURES
Parents/Guardians are required to contact SHS regarding their student’s absence by completing this Report an Attendance form by 1pm on the day of the absence. If a student falsifies this information through the Google Doc or phone, the student may receive consequences.
All absences are recorded in the ParentConnect program which can be viewed by parents/guardians using the designated login. If a student has an unexcused absence in one or more hours, an automated message will be sent to the home of the student via the designated phone number or email address. Please refer to the SHS Attendance Policy.
ARRIVING LATE TO SCHOOL
Students who arrive more than ten (15) minutes late to1st hour should check-in with our security team (Blueline) or the Attendance office (main office) office. The parent or guardian should report late arrivals using the Google Doc here. Students who miss fifteen (15) minutes or more of a particular class period will be marked absent for that class.
CHECKING OUT OF SCHOOL
Students who need to check out during the school day must have a parent/guardian report their absence here to get a pass before school begins or bring a note from their parents or guardian to their Assistant Principal's office prior to their first hour. The note must contain the name of the student, date of absence, time of departure, parent signature, and contact number. Students who miss fifteen (15) minutes or more of a particular class period will be marked absent for that class. To avoid disrupting class, students checking out early should check out between classes at their assistant principal’s office. Please refer to Stevenson Bell Schedule. ALL students must check out through their Assistant Principal's office if leaving early regardless of age.
Athletic Passes
We will continue to sell Family Passes for $90, but we have DECREASED student passes from $45 to $20. Come back to the Athletic office during the school day or inquire at any sporting event.
