CREATING A LEGACY....EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY!
MISSION STATEMENT
Golbow Elementary, together with family and community, provides authentic learning experiences in a student-centered environment that inspires lifelong learners to be honorable citizens who positively impact the world.
Food for Families
Katy ISD’s Partners in Education invites the community to bring hope to families in need this holiday season through our biannual Food for Families campaign. Katy ISD campuses identify students for the program while Partners in Education collects community and corporate donations. Grocery gift cards and a note of support from the Katy ISD community are then delivered to each student by a campus staff member.
Contributions in any amount are welcome and appreciated. Those interested in helping these Katy ISD families experience a happier holiday season should donate by December 9. Donations are accepted online, through Katy ISD Pay N’ Go, or via check, remitted to “Katy ISD Food for Families” and mailed to Partners in Education, Katy ISD ESC, 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy 77494.
Katy ISD Pay N’ Go Webstore
The Katy ISD A+ Pay N’ Go is an online web store, providing a convenient way for parents, students, and other patrons to make payments for cafeteria meals, activity fees, and a variety of other campus and district related services. There are no transaction fees and the system accepts credit cards and e-checks
Lunch Visitors Schedules
All visitors are required to sit at the parent table with their students. Visitors may not sit at the classroom lunch table with other students. There are no lunch visitors on early dismissal days and closed campus days due to STAAR testing. If there is a school-wide event, we will have to cancel lunch visitors, we will communicate in advance through eNews.

BUS ROUTES & SMART TAG BUS ROUTE TRACKING APP
Parents of Bus Riders: If your student is a bus rider, look for the white route number on the side of the bus when tracking their bus this school year! And make sure to download the Smart tag™ app from your mobile Google Play Store or Apple App Store! The Smart Tag app allows parents to set their preferred notifications, including when their child’s bus is expected to arrive. You can also see when and where your student boards and exits the bus.
POWERSCHOOL
All Katy ISD parents students are asked to complete the Annual Student Update starting August 1.
Parents/guardians of current Katy ISD students have been notified by email when each child’s Annual Student Update form is available. Parents with multiple students received an email for each child. Parents are asked to please complete the Annual Student Update for each enrolled child prior to the start of school on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
The 2024-2025 Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook can be found on the Katy ISD website via District Links. Electronic acknowledgment of both handbooks are included with Annual Student Update.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to submit a parent inquiry through the corresponding registration email found on the Katy ISD Online Enrollment webpage.
KATY ISD DRESS CODE
The DRESS for Success visual is provided to assist students, parents and staff in understanding dress code expectations. Parents and students should review the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct to be aware of the campus and District behavior expectations as well as the potential consequences.
CLASS 1:1 DEVICE INSURANCE PAYMENTS
Parents registering their students for the 2024-25 school year have the option to select the Class 1:1 Device Insurance Option. This option covers your student’s Chromebook device. All student fees, including the device insurance fee, will be sent to our Pay N’ Go system for payment on August 12th. You will be able to pay your insurance fee at that time.
Please note, this only applies to students in 3rd – 12th grades. For further information, please visit our Pay N’ Go website or for more detailed documentation, please view this Pay N’ Go Student Fee article. If you would like to change your device insurance selection from NO to YES, please emailchangemyrequest@katyisd.org with your student’s Katy ID, name and campus and we will update your insurance option from NO to YES. Please note, you are only eligible to make this change and pay in full, 30-days after your student’s first day of attendance.
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION (ID) BADGES
REMINDER: Every student ID badge includes a unique student ID number that is used to check out library books and textbooks, to purchase food items in the cafeteria, to permit passage to certain club meetings, and to provide easy identification of students in common areas of the school. Secondary students must wear their ID badges at all times during school hours, while on school property. If a student loses the ID, a replacement must be purchased promptly from the designated school office/location. Failure to follow these procedures may be considered a violation of the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct. For more information regarding student ID badges, please review the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct
STUDENT ID INFORMATION
If you are looking for your student’s Katy ID, their ID and other pertinent information can be found on the student’s ID badge. It is located under the bar code and begins with an alpha character. Additionally, the Katy ID can also be found by logging into Home Access Center (HAC). Click on the Registration icon – Demographic Tab and locate the field called Student ID.
Attendance
When a student’s absence for personal illness exceeds 5 consecutive days, the student must return to school with a Doctor’s note.
Texas State guidelines state that a student who has been absent for a total of eight (8) cumulative days or more will be required to bring a note from a physician verifying the illness.
School attendance is essential and we are required to monitor attendance by the State. Excessive absences will require further monitoring. When your student is absent, you must report the absence to our attendance clerk daily. To report an absence, go to the Golbow website and fill out the Absence Reporting Form. This form is required each day your student is not in attendance at school:
Absence Reporting Tab
Complete Form/Submit
Send documentation (doctor’s notes, etc.) when your student returns. Be sure your first and last name is on any documentation sent to the school.

DISCIPLINE MANAGEMENT PLAN APPROVED BY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The 2024-2025 Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct was approved by the Board of Trustees on Monday, July 31st.
Important changes include:
- Mandatory disciplinary alternative education program (DAEP) placements for first-time offenses of e-cigarettes or tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). (Students are no longer sent to the DAEP “on the subsequent vaping infraction” due to legislative changes in HB 114 that add e-cigarettes and THC as specific mandatory placements.)
- Added permissive placements to the DAEP for:
- Engaging in multiple assaults,
- Engaging in a significant health or safety hazard, or
- Violating the District’s safety and security expectations.
- Dress for Success visual to assist students, parents and staff in understanding dress code expectations.
Parents and students should review the Discipline Management Plan to be aware of the campus and District behavior expectations as well as the potential consequences.
Katy ISD requires all volunteers serving on or off-campus during or after the instructional day to register with the district through its Raptor security system.
Once registered and approved, individual volunteers can:
• Sign up as a campus volunteer by completing the volunteer recruitment form provided by your campus organization(s) or contact your campus volunteer coordinator.
• Track hours via their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus at which they volunteer
• The system also provides quick and easy submission of individual off-campus volunteer hours .
