NAACP Art Poster Competition
The Media Area Branch of the NAACP once again sponsored a Poster Contest to commemorate Black History Month. The objective of the competition was to bring out the creative expression of students and to enhance their knowledge and awareness of the contributions and impact that African Americans have made to our country. The Poster Making Competition theme this year was Significant Holidays and Celebrations for African Americans..
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the NAACP Art Poster Contest and especially to our winners - Addison J., Sylvia S., and Virginia T.
Thank you to Mrs. Bucolo for organizing our school competition!

100th Day of School
Celebrating the 100th Day of School last week was so much fun for our primary grade students! Some students were certainly difficult to recognize! The morning was filled with many creative activities all centered around the number 100. Thank you to all the volunteers who supported this event.
Valentine's Day
Ned Hector Visits Rose Tree
Black History Month is being celebrated by the students at Rose Tree Elementary this month. In recognition of this celebration, the 5th grade students were visited by Edward “Ned” Hector, enacted by Noah Lewis, who provided a living history lesson by sharing what life was like for a Revolutionary War soldier. This interactive lesson brought living conditions at the time of the Revolutionary War to life for the students, who were left with a much deeper understanding of what soldiers had to face at this time in history.
February Starfish Project
What a great response we've had to our February Starfish Project which is in support of Providence Animal Shelter.
If you'd still like to contribute, we'll be collecting for another week. The shelter is in need of the following:
- Wet dog and cat food
- Dry cat food
- Brown paper lunch bags
- Unscented clumping cat litter
- Latex gloves (sizes L and XL)
- Large dog biscuits
Thank you, as always, for your support. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Maguire- cmaguire@rtmsd.org.

Read for the House
Our school is proud to participate in the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region's Read for the House program! We are encouraging our students to participate in the read-a-thon during the month of February to raise money for families with seriously ill children staying at RMHC Philly.
With your support, we can help make this the best year ever!
As a team, we will be reading as much as we can the entire month of February. There are so many things that count towards your reading minutes, such as reading books and magazines, reading instructions or questions on our homework, reading the subtitles on our favorite show or movie... we can even count reading this introduction towards our minutes!
