Who is this for?
Any teacher in the greater Philadelphia area (meaning you can get yourself to the venue) who is interested in teaching the new College Board AP Computer Science Principles course. More information on this course can be found on the College Board website.
What is POGIL?
POGIL stands for Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning, it is a proven pedagogy that complements the goals of the Computer Science Principles course. This is a student centered pedagogy that leads to content knowledge acquisition as well as student development of important process skills. You can find out more about POGIL on their website.
Summer 2015
Three days of in-person professional development with meals provided. You will be introduced to the POGIL pedagogy and the Computer Science Principles POGIL Activities. Get to know the cohort, the content and the community leaders!
Academic Year 2015/2016
Community of Practice will involve regular online meetings to support you in your practice. Participate in the community, support each other, and ask questions of the community leaders.
Summer 2016
We will wrap up our CS4HS activities with a one day in person professional development including lunch. At the end of this event you will receive a check for $500 and our sincere thank you for participating in our Community of Practice.
